Does choice have any responsibility in an addiction?!
Question: Does choice have any responsibility in an addiction!?
Answers:
Of course it does!. You make a choice every time you indulge in your addiction, and when you make the choice to get help or continue on your current path!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Absolutely!.
The etiology of addictions is an intricate balancing act which includes elements of both disease AND choice!.
If it were the case that personal responsibility (i!.e!., choice) played NO role in addictions, "treatment" would be wholly ineffective!. And this is not the case, of course!. Many folks who struggle with addictions DO get better with treatment!.
Although it is absolutely the case that disease plays an important role in the etiology of addiction, "treatment" of the condition quite frequently boils down to behavioral change (driven by choice/personal responsibility)!.
