I've been taking Lexapro for about a year and a half, and it has worked great for me!. It does take a few weeks (six to eight) for your body to become totally acclimated to it - so give it some time!. No two people react the same to a medication, but it does work for me!.
If you do take the Lexapro - or any SSRI for that matter - be very careful when you get off it, and wean yourself off it carefully!. Wean your way down to the lowest dose available (it's 5mg with Lexapro) and take that for a couple weeks, then cut the pills in half and take the half-pills for a couple weeks, then take the half-pills every other day for a couple weeks!. That will help eliminate any withdrawal problems!.

Lexapro helped me at first, it blocked the suicidal thoughts so counseling could help me!. My doctor prescribed it for me!.
After the first month I had the dose doubled to 20mg, and about a week after that a psychiatrist redoubled it to 40mg!.
40mg made me shake uncontrollably and I had to go to the ER!.
I went to another psychiatrist who put my dose down to 30mg!. I was still shaking so she changed me to Pexeva!.
I still get the shakes, especially in my legs, but I'll take that over suicidal thoughts any time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I showed minor improvement with Lexapro!. It is a drug similiar to Celexa, but suppose to be better!.
It depends what neurotransmitters your have an imbalance in!. Lexapro is called an SSRI, it is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor!.
