Is okay to feel bad for yourself?!

Question: Is okay to feel bad for yourself!?
i end up in the hospital often!. Not with broken bones or stuff like that, but I have all these weird medical conditions!. I am not dying or anything, but i do miss a lot of school and it's not weird for me to have to go to the doctor more than once a week!. I spent my birthday in the hospital last week because of a heart problem!. My best friend doesn't seem to feel that bad for me!. It's not that I want her to pity me, but i just want her to try to put herself in my place!. We've talked about this often, and get nowhere!. I know she won't, but is it okay that every now and then I feel bad for myself, or should I think of how much worse other people have it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

When it comes to people, they will only sympathize for so long before they go about their normal lives!. It is normal for them to not feel sorry for you day after day after day over the same problems!.

No, it's not okay for you to feel bad for yourself!. It's called a pity-party and it is a waste of time and you let your life go by!.
Don't expect people to feel bad for you - why would you want them to anyways!? Do you want special treatment!?

Other people have it worse - but other people have it better!.
Truth is, you can't compare your life to someone else's!.
It is your own life and live it by what makes you a better, happier person!.

Instead of thinking people should feel sorry for you and be nice to you because of your medical problems, make them as they don't exist!. Don't make an issue out of them!. Live a normal life, like a normal human being with equal treatments!. Get use to that - because no one in the real world is going to help you out with this in a work place or with friends!.

I have had 4 major surgeries in my life!. Two in my leg, two across my entire spinal cord!. I have one leg shorter than the other and use a 3 inch shoe lift on one foot!. I have a fused back and cannot move it and it hurts after I sit for an hour!. I have to walk with a cane now or else I can't move at all!. I lost most muscle on my leg and can't move it most of the time!. I walk three times slower than the average person, even when I'm walking as fast as I can!. I have a skin disease so I get brown spots on my arms and chest!. Did I mention I'm fresh out of high school!?

Yeah, I'm pretty young and already I dealt with more things than a person will deal with in their life!. I learned that feeling sorry for yourself makes you look weak, pathetic, and it makes you look MORE handicapped!. It's unattractive, and it does make you weak!. It shows you have no mental strength or a good attitude!. Kinda like a baby who wants people to give it attention!.

Your life might not be normal!.!.but make it as normal as it can get!.
and don't treat like a disability, treat it like anything else!.!.like a test or job interview!. Know it, and attack it head on!.

Your friends will respect you more for your character and strength than for "poor little me"Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel that way too, when i see people with amazing cars driving by, it makes me want to get one a drive it, also when i see some more pretty then me i want to kill them, and i feel bad for myself, all you can do is make the best of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's okay to pity youself!.In your condition, I'd be suprised if you didn't!. You should worry, though, if your pity for yorself takes over your life!. Don't get depressed!.
Try doing something fun for yourself every now and again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nope---don't even go that route---because if you do, you set yourself up for misery in the future!. It's ok to feel sorry for outselves on an occasion, but not ok to expect from others to feel sorry for us!. I've been born hearing impaired and vision impaired and I have lost the use of my left eye completely by now!. I have raised w children, I have gone to college(I paid my way through it), I had a great job---and I made a bunch of wonderful friends---the secret to this is that I never expected the world around me to accomondate me or to feel sorry for me---I was who I was---legally blind and hearing impaired, and I made sure that I was good at my profession, and I made sure that I had my way to and from work(even if I had to walk 6 miles to work)!. If you expect from people that they pity your then you will not be able to get acknowledgements for achievements, you will not be able to make true friends, and you will probably never be able to find a partner!.!.!.!.I expected to be treated like a normal person - no extras for me!.

Your friend is in essence doing the right thing---she is your friend, she knows what you are going through, but she doesn't pity you---she treats you like a normal person---you need to appreciate that!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
