Not REALLY cutting...is it still bad?!

Question: Not REALLY cutting!.!.!.is it still bad!?
I self harm, but not all the time, and it's only scratching with my fingernails or lightly with a screw!. I've never even gotten close to bleeding, and it helps denumb me!. I'm going to therapy, I just need to get to know my therapist a bit more (I just met her a couple days ago) before I ask for her advice!.
I haven't done it in a couple weeks, and I really want to, but everybody says it's bad!.!.!.it can't be worse then the other alterative - bottling it up until I explode in anger!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are more than two alternatives!. It's good you're in counseling and I think she would be the best one to ask about it, once you do get to know her!. Hopefully, she'll have some good, workable advice on how to deal with the emotions that cause you to feel the need to self harm!.

edit--I didn't really answer the question!. In my opinion it's still bad, but probably not as dangerous!. It's the psychological part about it in this case that causes me to worry!. The fact that you want to scratch yourself!. The fact that you want to use physical pain to numb emotional pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have done it many times and it was really bad, scars, blood, the whole 9 yards!.!.!.i don't see how that helps denumb you because it sounds like you are trying to get attention!. I think you should stop pretending because you can't get help for something that isn't real! tell your therpist the truth:that you are a stupid looser who has nothing better to do and you have no other way to get attention so you scratch your wrists for fun!.
this girl in my class used to act like that and would drag a staple across her wrist then show people and act like she was depressed and then she got in trouble for it!. Another girl was using a razor but barely scratched herself and i found her retarded for doing that!. It isn't kwl so get over yourself!. Go find some friends and a guy, go to the mall, and live a happy life!. Ok!?!?!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's bad to hurt yourself in any way!. You have to get your emotions out instead of taking your pain out on yourself!.

But scratching myself, and by not drawing blood is how I started my over 9 years of cutting!. So if I were you, I'd stop ASAP before it gets any worse!. Because if you don't stop, soon you won't be able to feel that small amount of pain anymore, and resort to worse things!. That's what happened with me at least!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i do the same things and some time i puch my self like in the leg but there has been once or twice when i couldnt control my anger and reall cut my self so it can escalate in diffrent sitchuations but try a rubber band around ur wrist and snaping it instead of scratching ur self it might help!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, in my opinion its not that bad!.
at least youre not hurting yourself to the extent that it can scar!.
cuz for me, i cut myself, and its way worse than that!.
and i know the temptation!.
but i dont really think thats major cuz youre not really completely hurting yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dude I am in your position right now and my scratching of a sharp object against my leg started to get deeper and deeper!. And I never notice it until I started bleeding for the first time!. Tell your therapist as soon as you trust her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nah, it's fine in my opinion what you're doing!. You're just scratching yourself, and if you don't bleed, it should be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

self harm is always bad!!! Even if it is small it is still showing self-hate and no respect towards your body!. I hope you get help quickly and don't hold from telling your psych anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont see a problem with it!. but then again i cut myself, like seriously deep-ish cuts, so i may be a bit biasedWww@Answer-Health@Com

It is a poor and unhealthy coping mechanism!.!.!.talk to your therapist about healthier ways to deal with your feelings!. You'll be amazed! Really!. kjlWww@Answer-Health@Com

It's still an inappropriate way of dealing with that emotion!. View the advice on self harm, in section 16, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris and contact them, when you feel the need to self harm/cut!. There are various suggestions, much information, and useful weblinks on my website: far too much to include here, which is why I needed to create it!. ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ANGER MANAGEMENT: If you can't deal with it by using one of the techniques, such as counting backwards from 20, to 1, (and prevent yourself from making yourself angry, in the first place) is important to express that anger appropriately, at the time, and to the person who caused it, if possible, or immediately afterwards!. If not, maybe by walking away later, and bellowing your rage!. In some situations, such as work, or school, it might be better to cover your mouth with a cupped hand, bandanna/handkerchief, or use the crook of your elbow, to muffle the sound!. Some people find that it helps to journal those thoughts, and emotions soon afterwards!.

Anger, which is repressed, rather than healthily expressed, tends to fester, and later may cause explosive fits of rage, or depression!. It helps to have someone you can talk to!. For more physically inclined people, a punching bag, or hitting your pillow, can be an effective release mechanism: visualise, as vividly as you can, that you are striking back at the cause of that anger!. "But next time, when you get mad, just remember this quote: 'Those who anger you, conquer you!.' It's basically saying that when you give someone the power to make you mad, or let it get to you, it's like they're controlling you!.

When I realized that, it made me mad, so I try to control my anger and not let people see it!. You can still control your anger without being walked all over!. You just have to draw a line!." Try saying to yourself, in your mind: "I am fire! I am ice!"!. Repeat for as long as it takes for you to calm down sufficiently!. Anger management is addressed in much more detail than can be included here, in section 4, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shanerisWww@Answer-Health@Com
