Anorexia is considered a mental illness because of the mental component that goes into the disease!. People with anorexia look in the mirror and see themselves as fat, even though they may weigh 85 pounds and be 5 foot 8 tall!. While the result of the disease is evident physically, this mental perception is a primary driver in the disease!.
While obesity can be related to mental disorders, it itself is not considered to be one, at least not by the psychological community!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there are people who have actually died from over eating or being too over weight I'm sure it's not good on your life span!.!.!.

Yes, but not always!. If it is caused by binge eating disorder, as I think another poster here said, then it is!. Binge eating signifies a general loss of control and a loss of control over what one eats!. Therefore it is a mental illness, similar to anorexia!.
On the other hand, obesity is not always a mental illness!. It can be caused by slow metabolism, an abnormal thyroid glad, or even genetics!. Obesity, like many illnesses or epidemics, has many causes!.

Yes I believe it is, Obesity has many sources, some peoples metabolism is very slow and some people are just built big!. I personally know of one person who eats EVERYTHING whenever she wants and is still 140 pounds meanwhile someone else who doesnt eat half as much and watches everything they eat is 190 pounds! So to answer your question yes I do think it is a "disease"Www@Answer-Health@Com
it could be!. Some people who are obese over-eat and they cannot control their eating!. This is why they eventually get so big!. Some have health problems that bring them to the obesity stage and there are some who eat because of emotional problems or because food is a way to escape their problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
