Schizophrenia is not an entirely genetic disorder!. It is both genetic and environmental both working together!.

This disease is not well understood and the current theory is that there is a chemical imbalance in the brain, especially that of dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain, that is out of balance!. Drugs can correct this imbalance!.

Genetic mutations in the DNA are implicated in this disease!. I think in a study, some schizophrenics have mutated DNA in their body, as suggested by one research!. But it takes more research to verify this!.

Stress triggers the onset of schizophrenia!. Stress does not cause schizophrenia, but it triggers this terrible disease!. It is a chronic disease!.

There are many theories on the causes of schizophrenia, but all are theories!. This illness is not well understood, and it is less understood by the general public!. They think that all schizophrenics are prone to violence, which is not true!.

Other possible causes are malnutrition of the patient's mother during pregnancy, viruses caught during the mother's pregnancy, virus caught when the patient was young, trauma caused in early childhood of the patient, faulty wiring of the brain of the patient, lack of vitamin B3 and B complex in the brain (this has been disproved by the mainstream psychiatrists), genetic mutation (as mentioned earlier), poor parenting (this is discarded nowadays)!.

Those born in the winter months are more prone to schizophrenia!. Those living in cities recover slower than those living in the rural areas!.

Hope that this helps!. I got this information from a book and many websites!. You can easily google this information from the websites!.

For twins, there could be emotional resilience coming into play!. Genetic factor is only one factor in the onset of schizophrenia!. There are many factors, albeit very complicated, implicated in the onset of schizophrenia!.

Misinformation can lead to incorrect assessment of this illness!.
Basically what i am saying is that professional diagnosis is required as many people in this area make the often fatal mistake of not being made aware of the real situation!.
When i say Fatal i mean that undiagnosed it can lead to allowing the illness to take over,it is very successfully treatable!.
