Is it normal to not feel well after discontinuing medication?!

Question: Is it normal to not feel well after discontinuing medication!?
OK!. I have been taking psychotropic medication for about 8 years!. Recently, my psychiatrist said that I'm doing well so he took me off my medications!.

The only problem now is, I feel very drowsy and just not well!. I feel completely overwhelmed by irritability!.

I'm wondering if it's because I was so used to taking medication that my body got used to it, and now I'm off it!. However, I really don't know what it is!. If someone can help me explain why I feel this way and if it's normal or not, it would be appreciated!.

Thank You!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey!! No it isn't unusual to experience symptoms such as these when you come off medication, particularily (in your case) if you have been on them for a long time!. Your right, your body does build up a tolerance to the medication, and when you are no longer on it you may experience a number of differeint symptoms (mine personally was this horrible sensation that my brain was burning, very embarrassing)!. These symptoms, however, can be really unpleasant so if they do become really difficult to cope with, perhaps go and talk to your doctor about them!. They might be able to offer you some advice on how to minimise the effect they're having on you!. I hope you feel better soon!. Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is totally normal to experience withdrawal symptoms when coming of medication!.!.!.you will feel like crap for awhile it does clear out of your system - I've found that its better to taper off meds if you can because the effects are less uncomfortable than coming off them cold turkey, but your doctor did so for a reason!.

Just take care of yourself, by eating well, rest when you need, taking a mild pain killer like paracetamol or aspirin should help some of the symptoms like headaches or nausea and drink plenty of water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's perfectally normal, once your body is used to something, then when you take it away you suffer withdrawals!.!. Give it time, you'll get better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
