Prescribed prozac 10mg and concerta 36mg what can go wrong here?!

Question: Prescribed prozac 10mg and concerta 36mg what can go wrong here!?
my dr!. prescribed me prozac 10mg and concerta 36mg because of anxiety, add, and insomnia also because of the side effects of concerta the after wards zombie effect!.

but i heard that prozac was a ssri and that concerta would inhibit the effects of prozac!.

im wondering what my dr!. was thinking giving me these two if its not going to do anything!.

i just feel really hyper but focused like i did a big pile of coke like on scarface!.

so is it actually a waste of my time taking prozac if its not going to work due to the concerta!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did your doctor order them together!? (I mean, is this the first time you've taken either one!?) And is your doctor a psychiatrist or a general practitioner!?
Here's a couple things: Prozac 10 mg!. is generally not a large enough dose to do anything!. (Although maybe your MD is going to increase it next month!.) 20 - 40 mg is a more common dose!. Prozac can actually cause anxiety is some people!.
Concerta 36 mg!. is an okay dose especially if you're an adult!. (If you're under 18, 54 mg!. or even 72 is probably more common - if used for ADD, anyway!.) However, Concerta can definitely cause anxiety and, even if taken in the AM, can cause insomnia at night!.
Prozac is an SSRI but Concerta wouldn't necessarily inhibit its effects!. SSRIs are often given with stimulants to people with ADD!. My confusion in the whole thing is why your doctor didn't try one thing at a time so you'd be better able to see what drug was causing what effect or side effect!.
Personally, although Concerta, Adderall (stimulants) work well for ADD, I haven't really seen any particular increase in benefit when someone was placed on an antidepressant in addition!. Plus, if insomnia is a big problem, I'm wondering why your MD didn't try Concerta in the AM with Desyrel or Remeron as the antidepressant at night!. (Both of these cause sleepiness and work well for insomnia although, really, I don't think they work great as antidepressants!. Actually, I don't think any medication works really, really well for depression!. There are plenty of behavioral things you can do though!.)

You can always ask for a second opinion, but you have to trust your doctor!. Sometimes reading the labels can make us distrust and think we are going to get all the side effects that were described in some patients!.
Anyway, from what I have read, Concerta does NOT inhibit Prozac, but there is a certain metabolism thing that MAY need an adjustment to the respective doses of each medicine!. Your doctor has in all probability already done this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Fluoxetine (Prozac) is an SSRI, but Methylphenidate (Concerta) does not inhibit the effects, in fact it potentiates the effects and is sometimes added for treatment resistant depression with very good results!.

Maybe it's time you started to trust your doctor - after all, he is actually TRAINED and knows what he is doing when it comes to prescribing drugs and combining them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Please check with your Dr!. about the prozac I was given high dosages that spun me into Bipolar mania that lasted two years I started hyper than started making terrible choices that were not who I was!. I wehnt through many medications after that to handle bipolar, it was a nightmare!.!.!.!.16 months later I am doing fine and on all natural vitamins!. I would never wish upon what I went through for anyone else!. It all started with prozac! Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've not heard of prozac affecting the effectiveness of concerta and vice versa!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
