Bi polar disorder.?!
Question: Bi polar disorder!.!?
has anyone had the experience of being sectioned under the mental health act!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
I'm not quite sure what question you are asking here!.
Yes, if you have BP disorder you may be admitted to hospital under a section of the mental health act - either for observation or treatment!. But this will only happen if your mental state is giving people rise for serious concern and you are refusing to accept treatment at home, or behaving in a way which is a danger to other people and hospital is the only option!.
The usual procedure is that the assessment will be done in your own home!. You will be assessed by a specially qualified (approved) social worker, a psychiatrist and your GP, although not necessarily all at the same time!. It is also common practice to involve the ambulance service and police to ensure that you are removed to hospital as safely as possible!.
But believe me, sectioning really is the last resort and people will only use it if they feel it is too risky to leave someone at home untreated!. I have been involved in many sectionings and we really do try our best to offer people treatment as a voluntary patient first!.
If you are in a public place and your behaviour suggests you are mentally ill, you can be taken to hospital by the police!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
