How is her health!?
Little things like health and diet mean a great deal when you are under stress!. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet that can give you panic and anxiety attacks!. If you've been doing it for a long time, the habit of jumping up with sudden starts can make it hard to relax and retain your water!. Once that water weight is lost, it can be hard to retain those precious B complex vitamins that are important to digest your carbs and keep your strength up!.
You can get some orange juice or a sports drink to replenish the lost sodium, and it could help her regain some focus!. Fix a bowl of soup for lunch every day!. A bit of exercise, just 20 minutes of walking can be refreshing and very relaxing!. If she can't focus and be still for a 20-minute interval it will be harder for someone to hypnotize her!. She's not patient enough to allow it to subdue her!.
If the antidepressants aren't working, it does sound very much like a nutritional imbalance!. She may be upset, but the degree to which she has to act it out, could be the biggest problem!. Compassion for others isn't necessarily measured by how much we suffer on their behalf!. The need to be negative and endure discomfort could be like a kind of martyrdom!. She may not want to let that go for fear it will seem like she doesn't care!.
I got over my panic attacks!. I was obsessive and a psychiatrist prescribed Luvox!. I was very rigid and set in my ways!. It was very hard letting go of that!. I really had to want to do it!. After 1 month I calmed right down and was fine!. Now I'm into the healthy diet, vitamins, exercise and I cook my own food!. I think she sounds like me, she is set in her ways too!. She has to want to do this!. A half-hearted attempt will not do it!.
More than anything, she needs knowledge!. She needs to learn to see herself objectively so she can learn to stop another anxious episode and to rein herself in!. She needs words to describe the negatives and to stop doing those same things over and over again!. Self-condemnation is totally not acceptable!. It's not solving anything!. Worry and anxiety are not love, and you are not cheating those that are ill by smiling and feeling some happiness sometimes!.
How does she handle her distress!? Look at it more closely!. If she won't address it, I'm sorry, but you cannot do it for her!. It's very nice of you, it's very sweet, but she has to help herself!. If you so much as give her too much attention for her anxiety, she may well become dependent on your ministrations and continue in the same manner!.
Many women act like victims, they are very reactionary!. Poor self-esteem can be so ingrained that learning initiative is a whole new ball game!. Intention means so very much!. And depression can have an addicting element to it!. It has become a habit!. But bad habits, are still bad habits!. You have to have faith and let it go!. Being depressed will not make them well again!.
I hope this has helped you gain some perspective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well relaxation techniques are good!. Try cognitive behavior therapy that worked for me you can get a book on that its called overcoming panic or something!. Cognitive behaiour therapy looks at how you deal with a panic attack and helps you during one and dealing with the fear of one!. It worked for me!.
Also i use a herb ashwaganda, but you might want to consult the herbalist in case your mother in law is on any medications!.
I think that the link below is to the book I used, its called overcoming panicWww@Answer-Health@Com

What Jen wrote is good!. If the hypnotherapist is reasonably good and has the same aims (retraining panic habit & reducing fear of attacks), then your mother-in-law will get the results a lot faster!.

There is an additional bonus that hypnotherapy generally helps people to relax and this is precisely what people with panic disorder need to learn to do!.

Humour also helps a lot!. You cannot be laughing and scared at the same time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
