Am i depressed-hellppp?!

Question: Am i depressed-hellppp!?
Im fifteen years old and for the past year i've felt really down!. Ive been having suicidal thoughts in my head recently and ive been crying practically everyday for no apparent reason!. Also in the middle of the night i wake up and i think there is a stranger in the house and get that scared i have to go and sleep with my mum!. Because ive been like this obviously my mum knows thats theres something wrong but she just blames it on 'hormones' and 'growing up' but surely if ive been like this for so long it cant be hormones!? My mum said she doesnt want to take me to the doctors because they will probably put me on antidepressants and, according to my mum, ill be 'spaced out' and 'high' all the time!. My doctor asked me recently for no reason out of the blue if i felt down and miserable just by looking at me but my mum butted in and was like 'no no shes fine'!. I really dont know what to do anymore!. Im just so fed up and really want to get myself sorted out!. Please help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You definitely have all the symptoms of major depression!. Your mom is uninformed and small-minded to think that antidepressants make you "spaced out"!. They have allowed me to function normally and happily again - exactly the opposite!.
I think your mom just doesn't want to admit that any child of hers could have a problem!. Here is a list of a few symptoms, so you can verify that you have it!.
* Disinterest in work or family life
* Disinterest in social life or alienation from previously close friends and family
* Sleep disruption or much longer periods of sleep
* Significant changes in appetite, such as eating too little or too much
* Paranoid thoughts, such as the thought people are trying to harm you
* Thoughts of grandeur or invincibility
* Feelings of persistent anxiety or panic attacks
* Hearing voices
* Seeing people who are not there
* Thoughts of dying or wish to die
* Exhibiting strong or violent anger
* Having flashbacks to a prior traumatic event
* Increasing dependence on alcohol or drugs
* Inability to pursue a normal life, normal activities or normal relationships

If I were you, I would go to my school counselor and discuss your concerns!. Maybe your mom would listen to her/him if not to you!. Also, let you mom see you really freak out the next time you're upset!. Don't hold back!. She may wise up when she sees how much this is really affecting you!.
No one should have to live with depression, especially not someone who is willing to seek help!. I hope and pray that your mother sees how much she can help you and does so!. Peace to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah i think it is depression, and i really think that your mum should let you go to the doctors to get help because it will help you dramatically and i dont think a mother would like to continuously see their daughter upset!. And of course there are other alternatives to taking anti-depressants if your mum doesnt want you to take medication!. You should go and see a doctor about it, just talk to your mum and see if you can reason with her about taking you to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, its sounds like depression to me, thats how I get, crying for no reason, and you certainly won't be spaced out, they make sure they give you low doses first, so get some help from a counsellor or your gp, goodluck and I hope you feel better soon! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Getting help is the most important thing!. I just graduated from my master's program, majoring in psychology!. Trust me, most psychologists help first and medicate second!. If you are still in high school, talk to your guidance counselor about this!. Also, look online for free help!.!.!. Good luck!. If you need someone to talk to let me know!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, if you have lost your appetite or don't care about your appearance anymore, the things that were once fun to you are no longer fun and you would rather sleep that face the world you probably are depressed!.
Your mom, bless her heart, probably hates the thought of you being of medication b/c some antidepressents can actually can sucidial thoughts and tendencies!. If I were you, I would look up depression, chronic, on the computer, look for self help groups, research medications, and talk with your Doctor or school nurse alone!.
Depression is not something to be taken lightly, and it is not something to be embarassed or ashamed about!. Millions of people suffer from it, but in this day and age, there are things that can be done!.
I am certain that your DR!. has done a blood panel on you, but if not, ask for one!.

I was in a depression clinic for a week years ago, and my roommate was absolutely almost in a coma!. She would not eat, she was so thin it was scary and she would not talk!. I would wake up and she would be standing out of the bed starting at the bathroom door attempting to get to it!. At the end of it all, it turned out that she had an underactive Thyroid!. (NOW WE WERE IN A HOSPITAL YOU THINK THEY COULD HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT!? But that is why I always say that you have to be your own health advocate!.) Her mother told me about the thyroid, I told the name of the endrocronologist that I went to, b/c I had an overactive thyroid and when the mother got her in to see the Dr!. four days after we spoke, he was shoked!. Two more days like that and he said she would have died!. Depression comes from all sorts of places and in this instance, once she had been treated for her thyroid condition, she was good as new!. But it is not something to take lightly and I certainly would ask for a blood panel to see if something is going on with your hormones and move on from there!.
There is a class of anti-depressents called SSRI's and the only thing that I know about them is that every single Dr!. I have seen has told me to stay away from them!. Please check this out and don't let it continue, you have your entire life in front of you!.

Blessings to you and may you feel better soonWww@Answer-Health@Com
