I am going to be blunt with you!. I know I am talking to a 12 year old, but I would have appreciated it if people had been more blunt with me growing up!. The good thing about people like us(I have Asperger's), we can take bluntness!.

To be honest with you I am going to tell you two things that on the outside seemingly contradict but on the inside can possibly coexist!.

My first point:

I would highly recommend seeking medical attention!. It is nothing to be afraid of!. They aren't going to put you in a home or anything!. It is an exceedingly common disorder and more and more people are diagnosed everyday!.

Research shows that a majority of us go on to live happy and productive lives and are relatively unaffected by our disorder!.

But in the meantime I would highly recommend seeking professional help!. And this is where it gets blunt!.

If you have a mild case of the disorder, you could highly benefit from counseling and therapy!.

But, and there's always a but, if you have a severe form of the disorder, there is really not a lot anyone can do!.

But I would still recommend seeking professional help!. If anyone can do anything for you, it will be a trained professional!. Do some more reading and you will find out that although we have some drawbacks, we also have some great social advantages that puts us at an elevated capacity for success!.

If anyone makes fun of you for having this disorder it is you who gets the final laugh!. Most of us have above average intelligence and some of us have even higher IQs so if people think it is a mental disorder, that's what I mean by you having the final laugh!. You can politely tell them that it is just a psychosocial deficit that you are working on and one day it may not even affect you!. But for now (and for the next ten years) you are going to have to make some very difficult decisions in life!. And trust me, this is NOT one of them!.

(I assume you live in at least a moderate sized town)

Soon you will be going off to high school!. There will be pressures to have sex and do drugs and drink alcohol!. If you truly have this disorder, I am sorry to break it to you but you are actually much more predisposed to giving in to these pressures than the average bear!.

You might think you would never do drugs, but what if you suddenly had money! You suddenly have more friends than you can count and are being invited to parties every weekend!? You will consider doing drugs and what it comes down to is this: trying to fit in!. These people are not your friends!. They will stab you in the back!. And you will possibly digress into an even worse state than you were in before!. It is best to not go down this road!. I went through a living hell for over a year because a couple misguided decisions I made when I was 18 and I just finally have gotten a new place, and am clean from drugs now!.

But there will be added pressures when you get to high school!. And you will face some very difficult decisions, and like I said before!. TRUST ME, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!.

Also, I would like to add that there are some benefits from receiving a proper diagnosis!. For instance, there may be some special accommodations your school can provide for you to help you with the stresses of daily school life!. When you get into college, this can be a big advantage!. Also, if you find later (in your late teens) that it is very difficult for you to find a job or hold one when you get it, you can apply for Social Security!. I am on Social Security and it pays for most of my bills with a little left over every month!.

It is nothing to be ashamed of!. Like I said, it is nothing more than a psychosocial deficit and it can be treated, although even that's arguable!. There are some benefits to receiving a proper diagnosis and I would highly suggest seeking professional help!.

But I would also recommend, when someone offers you that first joint, that first cigarette, or that first sip of alcohol, just say no!. You don't want to end up where I was at!. And with this disorder, it made it ten times worse!.

So yeah that about sums it up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

maybe tell a good friend
it may or may not good to go to a therapist, even if you have the diagnosis you may not get more help
if someone knows, it would be good for them to understand you better
look on youtube there are several video clips about asperger

Aspergers, if you have it, is not a mental disorder!. It is a social learning disability!. At 12 you are still young enough to get intensive social training for aspies!. That, not drugs, is the only thing that will help you!. You need to tell your parents so they can get that for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should see your doctor for an offical diagnosis!. Asberger's is serious because it is a form of autism!. If you discover you really have it, seek support groups and any help to let you become more socialable and improve your posture, emotions, caring, depression, OCD, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your parents would of pick it up my now ,if you have asperger's , but you have some problem with all those signs you need to been seen by a therapist for the right illness you gave got , the soon the bettter,Www@Answer-Health@Com

go get tested ocd and depression can all be realted!. asperger's is not a mental disorder tho it may seem like it!. check out http://www!.wrongplanet!.net/forums!.htmlWww@Answer-Health@Com

You should tell your parents no matter what!. That's the only way you're going to get any kind of help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a 19 year old guy that is currently in the process of being diagnosed with Asperger's, currently I have the label of having a pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS)!. I had the same problem as you just a few months ago but I knew I had a problem most of my life and I didn't want to tell anyone!. I figured that is was my problem and no one else's and that I would deal with it myself and I didn't want to be treated differently and get pity!. I also didn't want to tell anyone including my parents because I didn't want them to think bad of me or get teased because of it!. Eventually it became too much of a problem because I was lacking many of the necessary social skills and there were many other difficulties I was encountering!. I realized that I would need to ask for help as I had already waited longer than I should have!. I talked to my mom and she got me help but I she is the only person that knows about it right now!. After diagnosis I am planning on breaking the news to others!. I am sort of afraid to tell my dad because I could see him probably getting mad at me or thinking I am a retard or something!.

I would suggest you get help now because I regret not saying something years ago and now I have a lot of catching up to do with social skills and all!. I was told life will get alot better also after diagnosis and therapy starts!. Also, diagnosis and treatment should be covered by insurance so you won't have to pay for everythhing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
