I was dx with schizoaffective disorder - which is really schizophrenia with a mood disorder, my mood disorder being major depression!.

I see shadow people, but have been known to see eyeballs in water watching me, bugs everywhere, snakes in my bedroom watching me!. I hear voices!.!.!.a large group of voices where 2 (male and female) have seperated from the group and are the stronger ones!.!.!.every demanding and commanding!. And very critical!.

I also believe that any stuffed animals (or other toys!.!.!.even toys like barbie or whatnot) are out to get me!.!.!.I had to get rid of all my childhood toys because I was convince they were watching and waiting to kill me!.

I feel that there is a camera around me watching and recording every move I make!.

It isn't cool to have this!.!.!.I am so scared that things are out to get me that I had to get a strong sleep med just to sleep at night instead of investigating every noise or light I saw!.

I have problems making friends with poeple because I'm convience that if I let them in my life they will turn on me and try to kill me!.

I have a hard time takin showers or baths because I really believe soemthign will come up the drain and get me!.!.!.and that there is a camera outside the shower curtain waiting for me to finish!.

At night I see the shadow people walking around the bed!.!.!.or for the little shadow people, flying around the room!. They are waiting!. Patiently waiting!.

I often feel like the walls are moving either to get bigger or smaller!.

I'm currently taking 900 mgs of seroquel but it only helps a little and only when it wants to!.!.!.or so it seems!.

I have been hospitalized 7 times (mostly for hallucinations or voices)!.!.!.and was just (as of a few weeks ago) dx with schizoaffective disorder!.

When I first went to get help for my depression and the voices (in 2006) they dx me with major depression with schizoprenia but quickly changed it to depression with psychosis!.!.!.then they changed it to dsythimia(sp!?) and then finally with what it is now!. I'm convence they will change it again to suit them!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a life long schizophrenia paranoid!. In the 8 previous answers you didn't get one that was schizophrenic!. If you are truly interested in these disorders, first, type "schizophrenia" into Yahoo! web search and bone up on what it entails!. Wikipedia has a good summary!. It is not a single disorder but a spectrum of disorders!.

After the initial shock for me it became pretty routine but I was on medications right from the start!. Med's!. help in mood control but do not get rid of the hallucinations!. If you want a first hand account go to my profile and read my many answers to questions on schizophrenia going back over a year and/or e-mail me from there with any questions!.!. The experiences schizophrenics have are as varied as there are patients!. The stigma associated with the disorders is the chief detriment to living a normal life I think!.

Schizophrenia is in no way "cool", good mental health, peace and Love!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Josh,

I used to work in a psychiatric hospital and I have seen many patients with this illness!. My own sister also has it!. BELIEVE ME, there is NOTHING COOL about having this disease--it is ABSOLUTE TORTURE for those who are afflicted!.

In my sisters case, she was paranoid about everything and everyone!. Then, one moment she'd be the nicest person you ever knew, and the next she'd be the mean witch of the forest (with a "b" and non a "w")!. Eventually she had her breakdown, ended up not recognizing reality for three weeks, mumbling nonsense to herself and everyone else, trying to injure people she loved and commit suicide!. In others' cases, there has been lots of delusional thinking, no sense fo reality, and general confusion, discomfort, and unpleasatness!. Not a pretty picture, and not one you want to be part of!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't worry it's not offending!. I'm not SZ, but I do hear voices!. They think it is do to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder!. What I can tell you is that hearing voices can be traumatizing!. Some people might agree with you about hearing voices as be cool, those are the people who have good voices that aid them, I think it is very spiritual for those people!. A lot of people like myself have bad voices, they can be very degrading and belittling!. It's hard to explain if you have never herd them but think of it like this!. You are listening to your IPod, although you have no control of what your listening to and you can't turn it off!. Also it's more then likely not music your hearing either!. A long with these voices come a lot of other feelings and hardships!. They can take over your life, but with the help of meds and Therapy you can live a pretty normal life!.

EDIT:
The reason I use an IPod for an example is because you are the only one that can hear it!. But I like the 5 TV example!. That made a lot of sense to me!. Good job Kim!.

EDIT:
Mad Mac,
I never said this how it is to be SZ!. But I do hear voices!. That is what I was tring to help him understand, what it is like!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had to commit people who went off their meds!. It's not nice!.

I watched a guy jump from a 4th floor window, because he thought my colleague was a demon!.

To even have an inkling what some people gp through: Imagine that you are sitting and there are 5 TVs on different stations on different volumes on around you plus you are trying to listen to your mother tell you something!. And this happens 24//7 for you!. imagine there was a voice in your head that constantly and insistently told you the opposite of every thought you had or everything you heard!. The woman I worked with who was like this tried to drown herself, because no medicine made the voices stop, only quieted them for a while!.

I am not offended, but I can't imagine much else that would be closer to hell!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Schizophrenia is hell, not cool!. I don't have it, but people who do have untreated schizophrenia are totally paranoid and usually delusional--sometimes like thinking that insects are crawling under their skin (and they've torn open their skin trying to get them out)!. With medication it's better, but it is a serious, serious mental illness and nothing to be fantasizing about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Scizophrenia is not like the movies, It's not cool!. I have been told that it is like living a nightmare, fact, fiction there is no way to tell the difference when they have there episodes!. Even when they are stablized on their meds the disease changes and the meds are always being adjusted to keep up with the symptons!. They very really feel peace in their lives would you really want that!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ha!. I can understand where you are coming from with thinking that it would be cool to have it!. As much as it seems like it, it isnt a trip where you hallucinate then its over!. It is a 24/7 kind of thing, and the people who do have it are entirely delusional!. Could you imagine being on drugs every minute of your life!.!. after so long it wouldnt be so fun anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know someone who has this condition and it gets pretty creepy when they are off their meds!. They always think people are out to get them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

watch the movie "a beautiful mind" its a true story about someone who had itWww@Answer-Health@Com
