How do you know you have a disorder if you haven't seen a professional!? Well, alot of people have post traumatic stress disorder and can live happy productive lives as they learn how to manage the effects!. Realizing that you may have symptoms is a great first step!. What helped me the most when I was going through it was having someone to talk through issues with who would just listen and not pass judgment on my ability to learn to cope and move on!. Exercise is an excellent way to help you stay positive and feel better!. Drink your water, eat right too -that always helps!. Another thing that does help is just getting out there and overcoming any fears in starting a new chapter in your life and adding new people and experiences that will be positive for you such as friendships, hobbies, and school!. My biggest thing was just getting over what other people think because not everyone will understand who you are and what you're going through - but just ignore them and find a build a good support network!. PTSD is kind of like a latent virus - it can come back and haunt you over other traumatic events in life in the future!. It's like if you had it once - you're predisposed to have the same symptoms return over new traumas that may occur!. Just knowing that certain thoughts and memories are out of whack and abnormal really helps in being able to work them out!. Journaling is also great, but never return to your wallow in the past - that certainly won't help you heal - it will create a pain/pity party cycle if you wallow in it!. I've been to support groups where everybody was in the pain/pity party cycle for a long long time and that can be miserable!. Try some new things - like church if you don't attend!. Don't focus on the fact that you have a disorder too much and try to enjoy life now!. If you ever feel out of control or have thoughts of suicide then you need medical attention immediately because you can have other disorders going along with PTSD such as depression which can be medically treated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
