most people think in 2012 the world is going to end because that is when the Mayan long count calendar ends and the Mayans where famous for predicting time and moon shifts, harvests, that sort of thing
BUT when the Mayan calendar ends the world is suppose to shift ages and a new 'golden' age will occur on our planet, that is why the calendar ends, because the 'age' we are in right now will end, but not all of our lives! Many people believe that when the Mayan calendar ends it will be the end of the world!. This is not true though, it's just the end of an age!. I personally think they just stopped counting!. The Mayan calendar will end on my birthday!. It's not going to be the end of the world!.!. and if it is, I'll be having a big party anyway so, meh!.

The Mayan people were an ancient civilization!. Their calander is based through their research and predictions based on the stars, a!.k!.a astronomy!. They predicted that the end of mankind (not the earth or world) will be in the year 2012 (I could be off with a year or two, therefore stand corrected)!. The earth, according to scientific data cannot end, it will restore itself though this process might take millenia!. No one knows when the world will end!. In Christianity, Jesus says "No one knows this except the Father (God) and He will send Me!." He then explains to not be ignorant of signs, but reminds us that there will always be war, disease and famines!. The best thing that I can suggest is just to take it easy, enjoy what we have here, and treat people as you want to be treated so as not to have any regrets when you are done with life!. Besides, as everyone who has died learned, the end of this world as you know it happens on the day that you die!. No one avoided this and this world is still here!.
