What are your experiences with psychosis? How do you cope?!

Question: What are your experiences with psychosis!? How do you cope!?
This can be from a wide range of experiences from psychotic depression to schizophrenia!. I'm only curious becuase I'm trying to understand what I experienced!. I basically heard voices-I didn't know where they were coming from!. I was paranoid!. My doctor said when I went into the hospital I was disorgranized as I couldn't carry on a conversation or something like that!. I currently take risperdal and it helps a little bit as I still hear and see things once in a while!.Any input is greatly appreciated!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mine started more like dissociation - living in a pea soup fog during a very bad depression, but I had some odd ideas about it and eventually became convinced the knives in my house wanted to kill me and hallucinated a rope in the air that curled up into a noose!. I was started on a different antidepressant that made me manic!. No significant manic psychosis followed, and I've been fine since stabilized!. The whole experience still bothers me, and anytime I catch shadows out of the corner of my eye I double take for fear that I'm seeing things!. Time helps!. Being on the right meds helps more!. Without them at this point I think I'd be mad and on the street or in the hospital!. Instead, I've regained a normal life!. Hang in there!. Work with your doc on the meds, it can take a couple years (it did me)!. Work with your therapist!. Therapy does make a difference over time if you give it a chance!. A good therapist is also a good resource to lean on and talk to about stuff that you rather not put on your family!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
