Question: Recovering from long-term Effexor xr side effects!?!!?
I was a virgin when I was started on Effexor!. I took 2 pills of 75mg per day!. Ive been on the medication for 5 years and (though i am no longer a virgin) I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ORGASM! I have come to the conclusion that the Effexor is the cause for lack of climax!. I have weened myself slowly off the medication (without any debilitating side effects) and am currently on day 4 free of the medication!. IF the Effexor is the cause of my dysfunction, how long will it take for my body to adjust and how soon can I expect my body to "recover" from these long-term effects!? Has anyone else experienced this!? I truly believe this medication (though it helped me immensely through my depression) is the reason!. What insight can anyone give me for what I can expect!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The medication has the effect of dulling senses & its common with alot of the new SSRI types, Ive been on a higher dose for a while now & its had a similar effect!.!.!.!.'just cant get there' to be honest i would consider forgeting about sex & trying to overcome the depression thats a priority really!.
I dont know how long it takes to be rid of the meds possibly a week but talk it over with your Doc if possible, also there are some other meds that Ive read dont have such a negative effect on the labido, mirtazapine is one!.!.!.!.!.!.!.good luck !Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will probably take at least 6 to 8 weeks, sometimes longer to recover!. The most important thing!.!.!.Did your doctor take you off or did you just stop taking it!? If you stopped, talk to your doctor fast!.!.!.if you still need an anti depressant, the effects could be devastating!. And if you still need something, there are newer, better drugs, with less side effect than Effexor!. I've had bipolar disorder for 20 years and I have seen a lot of people stop their meds and crash!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
