Im trying to get out of depression but what steps are too big for the moment...?!


Question: Im trying to get out of depression but what steps are too big for the moment!.!.!.!?
I am working hard to 'cheer myself up' My doc has put me on sickness benefit for a few weeks but I got a call today to do 2 days work next week!. I said yes instantly because I thought it was the right thing to do but now I am getting waves of anxiety and feeling like I cant cope!.

I am trying to be strong and positive but it just feels like each positive action I take to get well and move on out of this depression is making me spiral down further as I find my motivation and fears about it all overwhelm me!.

I am trying to remain positive and trying to do the right thing but the blackness of the wave of this depression just seems to want to drag me under all the while I am trying hard to swim to the top!.

Do I take the work and push myself through this and risk crashing or do I take time out and risk the blackwave swollowng me!?

Note - it is a job I LOVE, or used to love dearly, but now my heart wont reach out for it because of the depression even though I want to love it againWww@Answer-Health@Com

i struggle with anxiety and i haven't worked for awhile!. the anxiety gets strong and i have low self esteem and that hurts me a lot and i haven't yet forced myself to go to work!. i don't know if its too early to force yourself to work or u simply need some time off to get yourself mentally stronger!. or that u should go back to work and try to work thru it!. u could always try work once and if it is really bad u can always just stop working again!. if u want to talk i'm online on aim or yahoo messenger and my screename is TheBTPYoda!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This stuff is so serious!.!.!.It's hard remaining positive; When your depressed; I know because I deal with it everyday!.!.!.I cried 3 times back to back for no reason; Really past stuff!.!.!.You have to fight it; I have my good days and bad days!.!.!.I also deal with (GAD); Which makes it worser!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take what ever steps you can!. None are too big!. The bigger the step the greater the progress!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I personally get more depressed if I don't feel like I am being useful or if I don't see anyone for a few days!. Maybe working a couple days, but not pushing yourself too hard would actually be good!. Unless there are unhealthy people at your work that make you feel worse - why not do it!? What did your doctor say to do!?

I am sure you already know that isolating from others can make you more depressed!.

If you want to do it - don't sit around getting anxious about it or obsess about it!. Just set up some guidelines for yourself ahead of time - write them down and put them in your pocket!. For ex!. -You will try out working a couple days, but you will still eat lunch, drink water and take breaks!. You won't try to do too much because you feel some sort of guilt or obligation and you will not agree to go back full time!. And you will give yourself permission to leave work and take a walk if you feel too stressed (take deep breaths) and if you still feel stressed then you need to go home!.
