Question: I want to get off effexor, but its almost impossible!?
hi, i have been on effexor xr 75 mg for about 5 yrs now!. i really want to get off of it, as it is causing a bit of a weight problem, and also i just want to be drug free, and well its expensive!. i was able to get off of it when i was pregnant with my second child, and it was pretty bad withdrawl, after i had my second baby i went on celexa, which made things worse, then went back on effexor, as it really does work very very well for me, i have a panic disorder!. so i get panic attacks, but never when i am taking this!. anyways, i want to get off, but even if i miss one dose i can feel it making me sick and dizzy!. so i though cutting down slowly!.
does anybody else have any experiences that they could maybe share of what to do!. i have 3 kids, and i dont know if i could go through the withdrawl, i would just want to sleep for at least a week till it goes away, as i dont do well with nausea!.
i dunno, maybe i should stay on it and suck it up about the weight, as it works wonders as a med!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be able to go to a doctor and convince him/her that you want to see where you are at w/o the meds!. The doctor can provide you with a week's worth of Prozac and you can quit 'cold turkey' after that!. If you're having trouble sleeping, you can take 300mg of calcium citrate plus 300mg magnesium citrate before you go to bed!.

The quickest (and healthiest) way to lose weight is by fasting!.
Everyone, regardless of their weight, has a spoiled child for a stomach that demands to be fed at least 3 times a day (bedtime snacks are the worst)!.

Begin by having a good breakfast and gulp water when you feel hungry the rest of the day!. Take your kids for an after supper walk (always a good idea)!. Fast once a week and eat fresh fruit and veggies the next day--no greasy stuff!. Your digestive system goes back to that of a baby when you fast!. You'll see what I mean!.

Use your anxiety disorder to exercise and try 5-HTP at 25- 100mg/day to see what it does for you!. You may not need to go back on Effexor if 5-HTP works for you!. It's cheapest online!. Weight gain is a rare side effect of effexor!. The oposite is more common!. Have you considered the effectiveness of the drug may be the cause!? For example, not being nervous or feeling more comfortable might result in you eating more!. You should talk to your doctor about it and possibly just start an exercise program!. You can also ask your doctor about adding a dopamine reuptake inhibitor like Wellbutrin!. That might balance out your weight!. Cymbalta is a great drug and some people like Nortryptilene (sp!?) i always mispell it for some reason!. anyway, it is very cheap!. ANYTIME you change medication like this you need to be supervised!. Also, I understand wanting to be drug free and without studying your case I would say talk to your doc and see how he can help!. Eventually, you may be able to get off of this and on the other hand it may always be needed!. But who cares if you feel better!. Also, are you talk therapy as well!? WITHDRAWING SAFELY WITHDRAWING FROM PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATIONS &
MEDICATIONS!.
