Other Bipolars: Do you still have mood swings every day, even while on medicatio!

Question: Other Bipolars: Do you still have mood swings every day, even while on medication!?
I thought I was on the best medication combination for my condition, but I'm still having (mild) up and down times throughout the day!.

I'm starting to think this is about as best as I can get to normal!.

What is your experience!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I found that if I took enough to stop mood swings then The drugs tended to stop most other emotions too; so I manage to live without drugs most of the time, but that is my solution and may not work for othersWww@Answer-Health@Com

everyone has Mood swings whether they are Biplar or not , its being a human being

Doctors try and label Normal things as problems when in reality they are not Problems they are normal reaction to everyday stress !. They hand out Medications way to often to people who are only in need of some R&R and Stress relief !!! NOT Meds that they get hooked on and have to depend on after awhile !.
Not saying some people dont have problems , but because of symptoms that seem one way when in reality they are not , Doctors hand out perscriptions instead of just plain Sound advice !.

My wife is bipolar and is on Lithium!. It has balanced her in a way no other medication or combination of medications ever has!.

She still has ups and downs, but the severity and frequency is greatly reduced!. It's like going from a roller coaster to a bumper car ride!.

We all have ups and downs, and some people are more emotional than others!. One thing I see her doing, is that she does seem to color a lot of her perceptions through biploar glasses - (so to speak)!. When someone is sad or worried for more than a day or two, she'll diagnose them as depressed, and when they are excited she'll think they are manic!. That's her point of view, and I understand it!.

I take exception with your statement "as best as I can get to normal!." You are normal!.

The last time I had mood swings was about a year ago and then it was during a time while preparing for a church bake sale!. Every morning when I got up I would start baking all day, home made yeast breads, cakes, brownies, cream puffs and quick breads!. All total I must have baked 2 dozen quick breads, 5 dozen cream puffs, I can't remember how many brownies and about 2 dozen loaves of bread, both white and challah!. I just couldn't stop, however this mood swing was strictly limited to a manic episode but no depression!. I felt euphoric and happy that I was accomplishing so much!. Also, my psychiatrist finally has me on what seems to be the perfect meds, Lamictal, Seroquel, and Prozac!. God Bless, I am confident He is able to help with the mood swings!. He only wants the very, very best for His children and will not let anything or anyone to harm you!.

I have no bi-polar manic mood swings anymore!.!.!. sometimes I have depression, but the mania is essentially cured!. It's been like that for 3 years!.

I take:

Geodon 40 mg (for mania)
Abilify 10 mg (for depression)
Lamictal 200 mg (mood stabilizer)

I hope you can find the best meds for you!.!.!. I really love that low dose of Geodon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am BP, take Lithium/Lamictal and DO NOT have mood swings every day!. It took awhile to get them under control, but for over 2 1/2 years now they have been pretty even!. Just slight adjustments here and there in meds!. The secret: Stick with the meds, don't drink/no street drugs, and stay on your meds even if you are feeling better!. I have had no wild mania and very few depressive episodes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

everyone is different!. There is no magic drug that works for everyone!. Some people find a really good fit!. Some people find that due to the side effects, that very few medications work for them, or just because they don't curb their symptoms!. Some people can find a total 'cure' as long as they are on their meds, while for some people, they are just 'managable'!. Keep looking with your psychiatrist for the right fit in meds if you are still disturbed by the moodsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Adding Depakote did a lot to shut down my cycling!. Tweaking from there has done more!. You might need to add something else and take it from there!. I've tended to wait awhile because it seemed much better than before, but then decide it was time to try for more!. So far, I'm glad I have!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
