parents stopped smacking the crap out of their kids!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
lol!. could be!. I know it's made for an increase in spoiled rottenness!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When I was young (I'm almost 56) people hit their kids for not being able to pay attention!. I think it's more a situation of the schools not being prepared to educate the children in a way that engages them!. Hitting kids is NOT a good way to raise children!. Unfortunately, the people who have stopped physical punishment haven't substituted anything else for it- like involvement with their kids and being good role models!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think its because they smacking them, I think its because doctors want to "label" every kid that walks in to their office that is a little hyper!. And parents are so quick to believe everything the doctor's say!. Maybe if parents took time out of their busy schedules and actually spent some time with their kids, or put them in sports or other activities, there would be less ADD!. Kids are naturally energetic, you can't expect them to sit and watch TV or play video games all day without acting a little hyper by the end of the day, make them get out and play!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

that doesnt make any sense!

my theory on add is that TV is to blame!. most children are growing up permanently plopped down in front of the TV!. think about it, TV gives you random 15 minute slots of entertainment!. show/commercial/show/commercial/show/and so on!. theyre being trained to have an attention span of 15 minutes and then onto something new!. and now its even worse with the internet!. 5 minute videos and instant gratification!. its so silly!.

if parents would just limit the amount of tv their kids are watching and the amount of time they spend online to one hour a day, the add problem would be solved! theres nothing wrong with letting a child be bored!. it teaches them how to entertain themselves and use their imaginations!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and holy cow THEIR BRAINS!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

(my first real answer)

no, i doubt it, i do(have add), even though mom and dad were quite easy than most on me in meh early years (15 atm)
mine was present at early age before that would have had much to do with it, i mosty atribute it to multiple things: including genetics, early start to playing video games (3-4 yrs old, and playing T rated ones at 5-6) and possibly other causesWww@Answer-Health@Com

Is that what you think or are you asking!?

Answer!. Maybe!.!.!.in some cases!.!.!.but probably not!. Can it be misdiagnosed!? Oh yeah!.

But trust me!.!.!.I know a lot of us "older" Mom's who dealt with ADD when it first started to come into being talked about!.!.!.it's not because of lack of discipline and you get real tired of trying to "convince" everyone that you indeed do set boundaries and the kids!.!.!.well!.!.!.they just don't respond the same as other kids!.

There is too much to consider as to the why!. Think about it!. Think of the pollutants and additives that we all consume!.!.!.could it affect our fetuses when the brain is developing!? Could be!. What about the huge increase in autism!? Something is affecting the brains of our children!.

Mental Illness is a tough thing because bottom line!.!.!.we know comparitively very little about the brain and what goes on there!. And things can be "triggered" or remain dormant depending on trauma, etc!.!.!.!.then there is epilepsy (of a sort aka seizures) of say the "feeling part of the brain" can produce rages etc!.!.!.(i!.e!. bipolar)!.

Now we know schizophrenia is real!. They used to drill holes in peoples heads to let out the evil spirits!.!.!.!.or perform lobotomies!.!.!.

But why the increase!? Misdiagnosis for poor parenting!? Possibly some but generally I simply think our kids are being either exposed to something that we weren't!.!.!.!.or perhaps the "Pressure" of learning things so early causes stress and triggers something (That's a long shot, but it's out there as a possibility)!.!.!.!.

Bottom line!. Be kind!. Trust me as a Mom with an ADD (now adult) it's a rough and tiring road!.!.!.and it's a lot of hits and misses!. (like everything else in medicine can be!.!.!.don't eat eggs/eat eggs kind of advice)!. Most Mom's really are trying to do their best with what they know!.!.!.and they know their child is different!. I had two children and had no problem with disciplining or getting that second child to "react" to things "normally"!. The other!.!.!.!."no way"!.

When my second child decided to act up in a restaurant!.!.!.I took her outside in the car, swatted her little butt and she cried and we moved on!. Did she act up again!? Nope!.

My son!? Same action!. Did he "act up" again!? You bet!. The experts advised that I take EVERYTHING out of his room and make him EARN everything back!. Did that work!? Nope!. He didn't care!.

I just want to say that Mom's get really tired of being "blamed"!. Why one child is affected and another not!.!.!.I don't know!. Our DNA is all different is one weaker than another and more susceptible!? Could be!. Could there be more stress in our enviornment that is triggering more!? Could be!. Could additives and presevatives or High Fructose Corn Syrup do something!? Could be!. But I don't think it's because we stopped smacking the crap out of kids!.

Just my two cents!.

Peace,

No!. It's because people are a lot more informed about issues like that these days!. Keep in mind that there is a difference between A!.D!.D!. AND A!.D!.H!.D!. and there are different types of A!.D!.D!. as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I kind of think ADD could be an indicator that in today's world there are just too many things that require attention, and only so many hours in a day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sigh!. No!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
