I've been on Lexapro 10 mg for 4 weeks now, and I don't feel any better!. The first week it took the edge off of my depression(not suicidal much anymore) and has helped a little with mood swings, but besides that nothing's different!. In fact, some days I feel worse!.
I have an appt with my doctor soon and want to know if he's going to keep me on this dosage, up the dosage, or switch medications!? I want to know because I'm so tired of feeling like this and just want to be better!.
I haven't had any side effects, and I'm in therapy too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ace's Mom is correct!. It could take up to 4-6 weeks to reach a maximum effectiveness!. You yourself said you don't have many suicial thoughts anymore & it has helped you with mood swings!. You may need a higher dose, but wait until your next doctor appt!. Don't raise it yourself!. At least call your doctor Monday morning & inform she/he about your progress!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I would give the Lexapro a few more weeks, as has been said it does take a while for your system to become acclimated to it!.
I've been taking Lexapro for a year and a half, and it has worked very well for me - although I also take Wellbutrin SR (in the morning) and the Lexapro (at night)!.
It may take some trial and error to find the correct dosage or combination of medications that work for you - no two people react the same to a given medication!.

It can take up to 6 or 8 weeks for a medication such as Lexapro to get into your system fully!. It is likely that your doc will up the dosage to 20mg, which is a typical dose!. However, it is possible that he may change meds all together!. Different meds work differently for different people!. I've seen this medication work wonders in many people, but there are those that it just doesn't work for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

So try it and see if it works!. tell you doc about it!.

Personally, Lexapro didn't work for me-- and I had sexual dysfunction side effects-- but my doctor switched me to Abilify 10 mg which worked much better to treat the depression side of bi-polar!.

well we cant know what youre doc is gonna do!. but he'll probably change meds if this one isnt working for you!. i tried lexapro, it GAVE me mood swings!. i had never been so bipolar in my life :PWww@Answer-Health@Com
