I'm looking for non-religious things to say to a little girl to help her cope with the fact that her aunt passed away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to her honestly about death and that it is a part of life!. Everything has a cycle, just like in Nature!. Try to avoid euphemisms or cute terms!. Children have a far better understanding of death than we give them credit for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

We explained it very simply to my 3 year old nephew when his great grandpa passed (my grandfather) at 97!. We told him grandpa was very old and went away and would be sleeping forever!. He (my nephew) was allowed to attend the viewing and say goodbye!. (His stuffed polar bear said goodbye too)!.

At that age, the event passes out of their mind pretty quickly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on how close they were if they were really close!. then you should tell them the truth!. if you don't do it now she will hate you!. Don't lead her on any further tell her no matter how hard it is or how bad it hurts!. trust me you'll be fine and so will she now that she knows the truth!. Tell her that even though she cant see her she will always be with her!. Kay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Aunt Mary was very sick, and God took her out of her body and brought her up to Heaven where she's going to live!. She didn't have any choice, and had to go with God!. She is not sick anymore, and she is very happy, except that we're going to miss her very much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just trying here, she's gone far away in the sky and show her the stars so she can have a idea!. Maybe it would be nice to have a star named after her aunt, and you all can point it out together!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have her write a letter to her aunt, and draw pictures of her aunt in heaven!. This will allow her to feel like she's kind of communicating with her, and help her process what has happened!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it's an open-casket funeral, just say that they went to sleep!. If not, then say that they went away for a while!. I know how terribly cliche it seems, but it works!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
