Please help I have Social phobia?!?!


Question: Please help I have Social phobia!?!!?
I'm 17 and i have finally had enough of this & need help to deal with it as its making my life so difficult, especially school!.

I am unable do read aloud and absolutely dread doing class presentations!. Sometimes i find it difficult to just answer questions!. I also get so paranoid something bads going to happen and worry about things in advance (eg: today we have been told that on friday the maths students will be doing a "secret activity" for 4 lessons, something about a treasure island i believe, but i'm aleady fretting about that, incase i have to do something on the board or present something!.

I'm so afraid of making an embarrassment of myself as i blush so easily!. This was the subject of severe bullying for 7 years, which in turn has left me this way!. I even shake & stutter, its horrible!.

I don't know what to do, my teachers all know the situation, but i don't want everyone at school to find out!.

Please help me, how can i get over this, should i speak to a doctor!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

My sympathies! I know exactly what this feels like!.

I imagine you've tried this technique, but it worked for me!. Try making a presentation to your bedroom wall, then to a mirror, and progress to family, multiple family members, close friends!.!.!.

Forget about any audience, and just speak to your reflection, projecting as though you were a classroom length away!.

oh my god, I have the exact same problem, I didn't know it was so serious, I can't read aloud too, last time I had to that infront of the class I fainted but luckily my mate caught me, but it was so inbarising, my teachers don't suspect a thing which is rather stupid of them, I have cerebral palsy so I'm already a victom of very bad bulling, what should I do

Yes- speak to a doctor, but first tell your parents- they can help you find someone!. If you actually have social phobia, then there is a variety of theraputic interventions available to use as well as meds that may be helpful!.

It could be that you just need some assertiveness training to help deal with some of your peers!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

You sound like you have Social Anexiety!. If you go on google and type this in it will give you a guide to what it is and what are the signs etc!.!.!. If you match then make a appointment with your doctor and he/she can refer you to counselling which will really help you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have it too, see your doctor about Inderal for your physical symptoms!. It's made my life far better!

I don't recommend antidepressants - they rarely help!. And the other stuff are just sedatives and you probably don't need those!. But the Inderal is a beta blocker and I find it invaluable!. You can take it before a speech and you won't shake!. You won't like doing it but your physical symptoms (including blushing) won't occur!.

Also read the book: Anxiety, Phobias and Panic by Peurifoy!. It deals with social phobias as well as general anxiety, worrying and other anciety disorders!. The best book I have read, of many!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I, too, had severe Social Anxiety Disorder when I was around your age, with all the same symptoms: anxiety, blushing!.!.!. the blushing was the worst because you just start thinking about how everyone knows you're blushing and then you just can't stop!.

Over time I finally was able to overcome my phobia!. I'm still a little shy and nervous when I meet people or have to talk in front of a group of people, but I no longer have that paralyzing fear!.

One of the realizations you must come to in order to beat this thing is that your negative thinking is not an accurate measure of the outside world!. For instance, you fear making the tiniest mistake!. When you think about how you might stumble over a word or stutter a little it freaks you out!.

Ask yourself "Why!?"

Would it be so bad if you made a little mistake!?

Other people make mistakes all the time!. No one is perfect!. No one expects you to be perfect!. When you start to get nervous, take a deep breath and say to yourself "I am not perfect and neither is anyone else in this room!. They all make mistakes just like I do!. If I make a mistake, it's not a big deal!."

Of course you don't have to say it exactly like that, but you get the idea!. Just let yourself realize that it won't be the end of the world when you mess up!.

my friend had this and i really helped her

firstly do you wear make-up!?

you need a "GREEN" concealer, green convers any redness, u need to put a thin layer of this over your cheeks and nose

then use a foundation, then a powder on top

this way no-one can actually see the redness at all :)

so therefor if no1 can see you blushing it will make you forget about it a little, and as time goes on you wont blush at all :)

let me tell you something, apparently I have the same thing, but my situation is different!. When lived in Mexico, I was a normal person, I was very funny alwayz doing jokes and playing pranks on people but, when I came to USA everything changed, apparently every time I have to say or present something in front of a group of amerikanz, i just get paralysed, they are not impolite, they don't make fun of me but !.!.!. anywayz, what did I had to do to overcome it!? you will have to make front, face the problem, at some point you will have to, I'm not saying that people will not make fun of you, I bet they will but it is part of it!. this is all that I kan zay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
