Experiencing what I think might be a neurological disturbance?!

Question: Experiencing what I think might be a neurological disturbance!?
Towards the summer of 2007, I began experiencing abnormally frequent headaches!. They are not concentrated in one specific area, but rather spread out in my head!. They weren't very intense but they began to get more frequent!. Then, in the beginning of the summer I started getting them every day!. The intensity would range but wouldn't usually be mind-numbing!. This carried on throughout the entire summer, so I wrote it off as working too much in the sun (I worked outside in a vineyard all summer)!. In September, the frequency of the headaches subsided substantially from what it was, however, I would still get them about 2 times a week on average!. This is still true, however, recently, other strange things have popped up!. I often find myself struggling to find the right words or losing my memory-something that has never happened to me before!. I find this to be upsetting considering I am only 15 and this should not be happening to someone of my age!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am qualified to answer as I've had a similar experience & was sent to a neurologist!. The worst part being I had to wait 6 months for an appointment on my countries public health system so worried about it for all that time which only made the symptoms worse!. And you know what it turned out to be!? Migraines!. And my own doctor should have been able to figure it out without sending me to a neurologist!. All the neurologist did was some incredibly simple tests, like they moved their finger in front of me from left to right & checked to see my eye was following it & they got a cotton wool ball & kneaded a corner of it into a fine point & poked it in the white part of my eye to see if my eye flinched (which it did), if my eye didn't flinch then it may indicate a problem neurological wise!. And no I'm not from a Third World Country so these were legitimate tests!. They offered me a CT scan to put my mind at rest but both them & I did not think this was necessary so we didn't go ahead with it!. They gave me some migraine prevention medication to take for a week & what this does is prevents you from getting another migraine for a whole year!. I have to say the medication made me a bit dopey but I still managed to go to work!. My symptoms were actually worse than your as I had visual disturbances also (like seeing things in 3D!! I can't even begin to explain! It was so scary & seeing zig zag lines in front of me)!. I also had dizziness sometimes for no reason & ice pick pain in my head that would take me by surprise (like being stabbed with an ice pick in your head, but completely out of the blue while you're happily working away or whatever)!.

Being in the sun is a classic one for bringing on migraine symptoms so it could be you have this problem!. They said my symptoms got worse over that 6 months because I was worrying so much waiting for the appointment (like I was thinking I had a brain tumour or something so it was really awful waiting that long)!.

I had always gotten migraines (usually only one a year though & always in humid weather or if I had not been sleeping or eating well for a few days) but what had happened is that the symptoms had changed & the neurologists said this can happen & they have no explanation for it!.

So don't be too worried!. When I lived in Australia I got the most migraines in my life as it was the humidity over the hot summers there & the humidity caused me lack of sleep at night time!. When I came back home to New Zealand - that's where I only get one a year now!. And the medication they gave me that time a couple of years back did work for a whole year & the symptoms disappeared immediately!.

Good luck, you'll have to report back here on what happened just to put other people's minds at rest as other people view old questions on here, where they are worried about having the same symptoms that you are having!.

Also note that your symptoms can be other things like a deficiency in iron, magnesium & vitamin B!. They tested me for that while I was there too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
