Has anyone had success in treating their panic attacks without medicine?!

Question: Has anyone had success in treating their panic attacks without medicine!?
I have always been a pretty nervous/anxious person but I never had panic attacks until about 2 years ago!.

They almost always occur at night, and usually when I'm not at my own home or out of town!. Alcohol plays a factor- the more I drink the more likely they are to occur, and I've noticed that they happen more when I'm ovulating or in the PMS part of my menstrual cycle!. I will have them from 10 minutes to 4 hours and they always involve stomach problems, throwing up, chills, hot flashes, and intense panic!.

I have them less now because I don't travel or drink as much and I try to always sleep in my own bed, but this is really becoming problematic for me!. I'm only 26 and want to live my life and not run away from it!. I don't want to take medicine because I already take medicine for Bipolar disorder!. I think birth control contributes to the attacks so I've stopped taking that too!.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

From my experiance the more you worry about having them the more you have them!.While its tempting to avoid the situations you think cause them , in the long run youll be missing out on too much and it will take over your life!.I used to get them for about a year really bad, almost every day!.I never took medecine but read everything I could about them and it helped me to know that there was a physical reason it was happening, ie an adrenaline rush , and that once you let it go through your body and stop feeding into it with your worry it will run its course!.Its not easy to do I know and takes practice but basically what I did was when I felt one coming on, I sat down and let it do its thing!.I said to myself this will all be over in a few minutes its just some adrenaline nothing else!.The more I did it the easier it got, eventually it slowed down and now I hardly ever get them , maybe 1-2 a year!.Its a horrible feeling but talk to people about it , you would be surprised how many people have them!.Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

first of all stop drinking alcohol ESPECIALLY since you are already taking meds for bipolar

try taking some yoga which teach breathing and stress reduction!.

when you feel an attack coming on, remind yourself that it will pass, keep saying it over and over to yourself!. find something to distract your attention, take several deep breaths an talk to yourself calmly until the feeling subsides!.

Ugh! I know exactly how you feel, and panic attacks suck!

There are self-help techniques available!. I found an ebook right after I had my last panic attack!. I was going to buy it but since I haven't had a panic attack recently, I didn't buy it yet!. (Talk about procrastination!. lol But I bookmarked it so that if I need it right away I can find it!.)

Anyway, the ebook shows a way to get rid of panic attacks forever!. There are tons of rave reviews about it on the website!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the combination of alcohol/meds was probably the highest factor of the spells!. maybe the bc has too many hormones!. consult your doctor!. it is obviously a chemical balance is problem so meditation and all that jazz probably will not work!.
drink alot of water and lay off the caffeine, if you drink it!. use a well-balanced diet!.
good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm glad you stopped drinking, it's been proven that alcohol will make anxiety worse!. I do take Xanax, but I only take it as needed, which is only a couple times a month, and more during my period!. I am also talking to a counselor and practicing deep breathing!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to take valium and found it didnt work at all!. I started to carry a can of evian spray with me and as soon as I felt an attack coming I sprayed ice cold water on my face and on my pulse points!. Worked every time and eventually the attacks stopped!. Try it xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes, mind control i would take notice in my breathing slow breaths in and out, music, close my eyes and relax focus on something a focal pointWww@Answer-Health@Com

Instead of taking medicine, go to counceling or see a psychatrist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I tried every conceivable way to treat my panic attacks but medication works the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have them really bad!. I take xanax!. It's the only thing that will help me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all I want to say I'm so sorry that you are dealing with these! They are awful I know!. I went through the same exact thing!. When I had my first I freaked out and was addicted to finding out anything and everything I could to stop them!. I went to counseling, psychiatrists etc!. and none of them helped me a bit!. I was at my wits end and then I found this program on line that I bought one day!. I read the program and it litereally helped me stop them that very same day - it was great! I can even sleep now without a problem!. I can't believe I didn't think about this! You have to read it!. If you want I can email it to you just let me know if you want it nicolearandall@yahoo!.com!. Just know that you are more in control of your thoughts then you think you are, you will be ok and this will pass I promise this will help you when you read it!. Good Luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you drinking while you're on this medication!?!?!? This could be the 1 source of the problem! It could be the meds & BC are conflicting with each other, I'm not sure about that!. But I don't like taking meds either & try to find the root of the problem before I have to try them!. At some points in recent years, I have had panic attacks really bad at night, & I had problems sleeping!. Maybe it's because you've done something mentally stimulating beforehand & then your mind is on overdrive!. Adding alcohol to the mix though, I would imagine would only complicate it!. If you feel fine on your current meds w/out alcohol, then you probably have an answer!. I would experiment with this though, & if you are going to drink, don't take your meds at ALL that day, &/or maybe even the day before or after!. If you have to take your meds everyday, then either don't drink or just try smaller doses!. Certain meds & alcohol just do NOT mix that other people talk about mixing all the time - ie, alcohol & xanax or a muscle relaxer, etc!. I understand the PMS part too!.!.!. not every month, but esp!. when I'm stressed, sometimes my moods get really uncontrollable for a day or 2!! I had tried some newer meds recently, & then once i noticed certain things affecting the panic attacks, I weened myself off of them & now I don't feel like I need them!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
