Is it okay to stop taking Lexapro now, since I just started on it?!

Question: Is it okay to stop taking Lexapro now, since I just started on it!?
I just started on Lexapro 10mg three days ago, and I haven't felt a change, at all!. Can I just stop it now, without any side effects!?
I was prescribed Lexapro by an Internist, but I will be going to see a psychiatrist the day after tomorrow!. I was thinking that it would be better to stop now, since it isn't working, and get my body ready for a different medicine, that the new psychiatrist might prescribe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Any psych med will take at least a month to start working to it's fullest!. I recommend staying on it until a doctor puts you on something else, if they do so!. You should always take your meds unless they give you really bad side effects, and even then you should call your doctor if you get bad side effects!.

If you get off it now, you will never see the good effects that may come from it, and the psychiatrist may just recommend Lexapro again for you!. Just try to hang in there and keep taking the Lexapro!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would continue taking the Lexapro, it does take several weeks to fully function - and the psychiatrist will likely have you continue taking it!. It may take a couple weeks before you feel any change - and a month or so before it reaches full strength!.

It probably would not hurt anything to stop taking the Lexapro, but since you've started, you do have a few days "head start" on it, it might be good to keep taking it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All anti-depressants take at least 2-3 weeks to actually kick in for the patient to see a difference!. I think you should continue to take it!. Also see the psychiatrist and see what they have to say and if Lexapro is even the correct medicine needed in your case!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

all you will be doing is waiting longer for the lexapro to kick in if you stop taking it now and have to start back up again later!.!. just keep taking the lexapro and wait two days until you can speak to your new psychiatrist if you have any concerns!.!. good luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lexapro takes anywhere from four to six weeks to feel the full effects!. The fact that you have no side effects is a good thing!. As with all medications, dont stop it without discussing further with your doctor!. Best of luck to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would be a good idea to stay on the Lexapro!. Lexapro typically takes a week or two to start working, so the fact that you are not feeling better after three days does not mean anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

give it more time to work like the other people said!. If you are hell bent on stopping, then it should be ok to quit cold turkey!. 3 days is not long to be taking lexapro at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lexapro take 10 days to 2 weeks to get in your system and really start to work!. I was given it, but since it made me nausious I quit taking it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
