2 questions in 1.. Meditation/Stress?!


Question: 2 questions in 1!.!. Meditation/Stress!?
I'm 16 Years of age!.(I always state my age before every question concerning myself!.!. Just in case you need to know it for answering properly)
These questions tie to eachother by the way:
1) What is meditation!? How do I benefit from it!? I want to strengthen the relationship between God and I; I want to hear what he has to tell me, I want his help, his guidance!.
2) Stress, unfortunately for me, after entering the second semester of my sophomore year in highschool, I was faced with A LOT of stress and dilemmas!. No matter how "minor" they were, they stressed me out to no end, to where I wouldn't be myself anymore, it really affects my friendships!. How can I releive my stress in a positive way!. I already exercise more than 4 times a week for Volleyball conditioning!.!. So will meditating also help with the relief of this stress!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like you're considering using meditation as a way to relieve stress!. Go for it! Meditation does wonders for people!.

It will relax your mind so that you'll be able to think more clearly and focus on one thing at a time!. It can be done many ways!. Usually you would focus on something, either a physical object, or a word/phrase!.

What I do is I lie down on my back, legs straight, arms at my sides, palms facing up, and a pillow under my head!. I close my eyes and focus on the parts of my body that feel most tense and just let them start to relax!. Full breaths!. And then I add whatever I want to focus on!. For instance, I can tell myself positive statements like: "I am relaxed and happy!." Or something like that!. And just repeat and maintain focus on that phrase and really believe it!. Or some people like to just focus on their breathing!. Or like you said, you can focus on God!.

I use it for reduction of anxiety!. It helps me feel safe and relaxed!. Plus, once you get good at it, you can go deeper and deeper!. It feels awesome!

Also, you can find other meditation techniques online!. You can find the one that works best for you!.

Meditation is a great way to connect with God and to relieve stress!. You can try guided imagery (having someone talk you through a meditation) and just allow feelings to come as they are and let them pass!. It might take a while to feel more connected with God but if you keep on with it it will eventually happen!.
And because meditation slows your heart rate and calms your thoughts and breathing it is great for stress!.
A meditation I like is!.!.!.Either sit or stand (this one isn't really meant for lying down)!.!.!.feel roots (like a tree) growing out of your feet and feel them begin to grow into the earth!.!.!.feel them go deeper and deeper until you are as deep as is comfortable with you!.!.!.bring your attention up the roots, but leave them in the ground, then feel the branches of this tree begin to grow!.!.!.slowly reaching for the heavens and feel the leaves start to take in the suns energy!.!.!.take some of the suns energy and slowly take it to the ends of your roots and feel the calm!.!.!.you can stay this way for a few minutes or you can begin to end the meditaiton!. Slowly pull up your roots!.!.!.slowly, imagen yourself pulling your roots there underground water and furtile soil!.!.!.as you get closer to yourself start to pull in the branches!.!.!.pull the suns energy you've acuirade(sp!?) and pull that to your heart or surrount your body with it!.!.!.and as you pull up your roots and pull in your branches slowly ease your mind back to life!.!.!.once you have the roots and branches pulled in, count to 10 backwards and open your eyes!.!.!.I find this one to help calm me after a fight or a horrible day!.
