Cyclothymia, fear of asking for help, and a boyfriend who thinks It's all ma!

Question: Cyclothymia, fear of asking for help, and a boyfriend who thinks It's all made up!?
When I was 16 I was diagnosed with Cyclothymia and panic disorder!. I took paxil shortly, until I said "there's nothing wrong with me" and stopped!.

I'm 23 now, and struggling with the constant battle of mania vs depression!. When I'm in a state of mania, I convince myself I am fine but inevitably I fall into the depression soon after!.

It had always been somehwhat manageable to me, but in the past year it has been getting worse!. My lows are getting lower and lower, to the point where I've also re-ignited a struggle with self injury, which I haven't done since i was 17!.

I have been with my boyfriend for three years & he doesn't understand any of this!. When I'm in a depression, he thinks i'm just being lazy!. He tells me it's all "in my head" and to "get over it!." I think that may be part of why I've put off getting help!.

I Know I need meds but can't seem to pick up the phone and call!. I'm too scared!. Suggestions!? How can I try to regain control of this on my own!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First step is admitting it's a problem and you want help!. So, since we can't give you full treatment, you need to get to someone who can!.

I understand what your boyfriend is like!. However, even if it's "just in your head", it's still real and it's affecting you!. Tell him you seriously need treatment -- my aunt had to shout at her husband, when he complained about the cost (he didn't believe in psychotherapy),
"Fine! Sell the television, the computer and every stick of furniture we have! If I don't get help I will die -- I'm dying already!"

If you can't make him understand and support you, ditch him!. You don't need someone who can't try and see your side of things, and respect your needs, even when he doesn't agree with them!.

You need therapy!. You've recognized as much!. If you don't dare make the call, ask someone else to do it -- a friend, family member or even coworker!. I'd do it for you, but it's no good distributing your info on the Internet!.

Please!.!.!. just get it done!. Pretty please!?

Good luck, and I hope you'll be better!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all lose the b/f second are you sure you're not bi-polar!? Are you currently receiving therapy!? I hope you are and best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

leave him!. he doesnt seem nice, he seems rude and unsuportive unlike a real boyfriendWww@Answer-Health@Com

I dont think you can on your own hon!.
The first step to having a problem is ADMITTING that you have a problem!.
It's nothing bad, if you take pills for it (once you go to the doctor again)
You'll regain some sense of control again, instead of being in denial!.

Tell your boyfriend that you two "need some space" away from each other too!.!.!.
If he really loved you, he'd TRULY understand and encourage you to get help to get through this, not put you down and brush it off when it's REALLY bothering you!.!.!.
I hope I helped

Good luck!

I hate it when people say it's all made up!. I also hate it when people pick on people with depression and things!. My best friend had the same problem as you!. Maybe worse!. He locked himself in his house for three months!. I introduced him to my other friend and they fell in love!. He is now off medication and is doing great!. My point is that true love makes happiness and happiness is very helpfull when dealing with this!. Tell your jerk boyfriend to stop being so selfish and to support you!. If he can't than maybe you should move on!. Hang in there and stay strong!. My thoughts and prayers are with you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

its called an chemical embalance in the brain!.!. and theres NOTHING WRONG with asking for help and I don't care how long you've been with your boyfriend if he don't get it and don't understand then that is his problem and you have to stop hurting yourself, you could do permnant damage do you want to do that!?!? I don't think so!.!. Go to the DOCtOrs ASAP!.!. Don't be afraid to ask for help!.!. After my mom died I couldn't handle it I had to get help, and I have anxiety attacks and they had to do something about that!.!. I don't care what other people think, I'm doing what I have to do to make me better ya know and you have to do the same thing!.!. Theres always hope!.!.
Always remember your never alone!.!.!.*SMILE*Www@Answer-Health@Com
