OMG- MY MOTHER!!!!
Way before it was ever diagnosed as a disorder!. One characteristic was that she always accused me of being narcissistic whenever l expressed any need l had, from teenage on!.
Recovery!?!?!? 50 years later l'm still affected by it!.
Not only was it "all about her" it could never be about anybody else!. All she knew to do was criticize and put down everybody!. Except men, from whom she expected flattery!.
My father just backed her up and stayed out of the way of her outrageous behavior!.
As a result l never got any positive attention or feedback!. l knew inside l was a good kid, but l also knew that wasn't enough, that there was sometning terribly wrong with me for her to act that way toward me!. As a result l had 0 self-confidence or self-esteem- indeed no sense of "self" because l had no permission to be, to have, a self!.
What that did to my life is pretty obvious!. It affected everything!. It took years of therapy for me to even understand the cause of my problems, never mind fixing anything!.
The only way l could ever deal with it at last is to simply accept that l had a "toxic" parent!.
And stay away!. Not soon enough!. She alienated my children from me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best way to deal with a narcissistic person is to avoid them as much as possible!.
Time is a great healer and if you find you haven't gotten over this person's abuse in a reasonable amount of time, seek some professional help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
