Does writing help you cope with stress, depression, anxiety, or anger?!


Question: Does writing help you cope with stress, depression, anxiety, or anger!?
I'm one of those people that think way too much and over-analyze things!. Thoughts come and go all the time!. So for me it's like a lifesaver!. Especially when no one else is willing to listen or doesn't understand!. Although, sometimes, I can't even seem to understand myself after I read the insanity that comes out of my head!. Is that weird!? Anyway, whatever, it still usually helps though!. Especially when I combine it with listening to music!. Do you ever write something when you're stressed!? And does it help!? And I should really stop wasting my points on questions so often :|Www@Answer-Health@Com

i saw this question and laughed!. it's funny you should ask because i always do my best when i am stressed, depressed, anxious and angry!. i have bipolar disorder and i wrote a full length play in 12 hours during a manic phase last fall!. i didn't think much of it, but a teacher encouraged me to enter it into a national contest!. i didn't think i'd place, but i won the gold key for the scholastic arts and writing award!. the same award that robert reford, slyvia plath and others won at my age!.

i feel that the surge of emotion is best to be caught through language!. it's a positive release, better than cutting or hitting or self-starvation and drinking!. it's a mechanism that brings me joy and helps so much!. i too am an over analyzer, but sitting down and pounding out poems, stories, plays and even answers on this site, help so much!.

that's why i hate being numb!. because i can't bring myself to write!. and i love to write!. it's a crazy conundrum, but i identify with the way writing helps you!. music is the icing on the cake!. my current playlist, the by the way album by the red hot chili peppers!. love them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes writing helps me!. It helps a lot!. But, don't worry about being weird!. I go somewhere, that I know I won't be desturbed and talk to the trees!. I talk out loud!. I let it all out and whats worse, though i know its my own subconsious mind saying what Im hearing in my head!. I allow myself to believe that the trees are talking to me asking me questions that should have been obvious to me!. Showing me points of view I missed that I should have seen!.

I am a very verbal person!. If I can't talk it out, then I write it out!. But, either way, I have to get it out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Writing is very cathartic!.It could also lead to a vocation!.
Many great authors suffered from emotional and mental dysfunctions!. Hemingway comes to mind first but there are others!. Stream of consciousness is valuable in sorting out woes and rememberances!. Keep writing, it is good for what ails you!.

I find writing helpful when I am able to think of something so clearly and I know that clarity will get lost if I don't write down the inspiring thought at that time!. This clarity does not happen very often!. So I know enough to make a note of my perceptions of that moment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

im someone who over analyzes stuff too!. its annoying and makes me more anxious than i should be!.

writing really helps me with my depression more than my stress!. sometimes ill wake up and absolutely have to write something down because if i dont then ill forget it!. almost like an epiphany!.!.!. haha
