Answers:
First, you are NOT having an allergic reaction!. Disregard what the first person said entirely!.

Second, lithium has been used medically as a mood stabalizing drug since the 1870s!. It's very safe, but it takes some getting used to!. When you first start taking it, you'll feel very hyperactive, but that goes away after a few days!. Feeling thirsty, however, does not!. Lithium is basically a salt!. It's very important to stay out of the sun and to stay very well hydrated or you could suffer from sunstroke!.

Don't worry, but be sure to let the doctor know about the symptoms you're experiencing!. I can assure you, it's very normal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Drink lots of water!. Your doc should have told you that that's something you need to do with Lithium!. As for feeling wound up!.!.!. that probably has everything to do with why you were put on Lithium and not much to do with the Lithium!. Elevate your ankles if you can sit still long enough and watch them!. If they're a problem tomorrow, call your doc!.

Some ppl find Lithium sedating, which is why all the warnings!. I'm on twice the dose you are plus a bunch of other stabilizers and if not for the Seroquel at not, I don't find any of it sedating, and I'm not even hypomanic right now!. Each person is different!.

So ya know, Lithium takes anywhere from a week to three weeks on average to work and there's a good chance that 600mg will not get you to the effect blood serum level of !.6-1!.0!. Adjusting to the med depends on how much your body likes it!. Li works on about 50% of the ppl who take it w/o significant side effects!. It works on another 25% but the side effects are too much to continue!. The last 25% don't get any benefit from it!. You won't know where you're at on efficacy until you're well into the theraputic range, and more or less it'll take a month to figure out if you can tolerate it!. Usually side effects fade away in that period!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I assume you have a doctor who prescribed these to you!.

Drug side effects are more common than people think!. Your pharmacy should have given you a printout of what you might feel!. Not everyone reacts the same way!.

There are drugs in which side effects are routine, but don't last!. That's true of things as ordinary as pain killers or the wide range of effects that psychiatrists and physicians prescribe!.

If you continue having the symptoms, then you should definitely call your doctor!.

Thirst and dry mouth are not unusual!. Many drugs can have effects that would make it dangerous to drive or operate machinery!. In most people, that wouldn't be true, but for a few it could be like drinking a lot of boose!.

When you take a new dug, pay attention to contraindications and really read the fine print!. Some of it is to esoteric for most people!.

Get through until tomorrow and see how you feel!. Some drugs just need an adjustment period!. Others need to be replaced!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thirst is very common in treatment with lithium!. Just drink water as you see fit but never in excessive quantities (as it could lead to nephrogenic diabetes insipidus)!. Your thoughts being all over the place and the increased energy are symptoms of mania, not side effects of lithium!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stop taking it !.!.!. your body is having an allergic reaction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
