Question: Why do people say things like!. !. !.!?
Why do people say things to others that are suffering or are upset that "it's going to be okay" or "everything's alright" when it obviously isn't!? This irritates me more than anything and I have no idea why people do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes that is the only thing people know to say to try to comfort you!.

In many very sad situations people dont really know what to say and that just comes easy!.!.!. kinda like when they say "I know how you feel" when a lot of times they really dont!.

I couldnt stand it when I was younger and my grandpa passed away from cancer, people said "At least now he is in a better place"!. I hated that, because I was selfish and wanted him to be with me!. And 2 yrs ago my grandma passed away for the same sickness, and I told my dad!.!.!. I hope people wouldnt say that same thing to me and sure enough they did!.

I know there have been times with people that I didnt know what to say in their time of suffering, but I think to tell someone you will be there for them is the best thing you can say!.

Anyway!.!. sorry I went long winded, my answer is sometimes people say it to comfort you and dont know what else to say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When someone says, "everything's alright", it is misleading, because everything's obviously not alright!. But I usually tend to tell them that things will likely get better, because in most cases, it will!. People tend to say things like these because they really don't know what to say, but want to make them feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had the same experience!. This is either what people really believe or maybe they don't know what to say, so they just say a quick answer like that!. It does irritate us when people give quick, unhelpful answers!. It doesn't give us validation as a person!. We all need validation as a person!. I think it's possible that some people don't really know what to say and others just think life is not as bad as we are trying to explain!. But when people don't validate our feelings, then that is such a horrible answer, because it only makes us feel worse!. I know one thing!. I don't do that to other people!. I don't always have the right answer, but I never tell someone that what they are feeling isn't valid!. I will try to help them and encourage them!. I will be kind and as helpful as I know how so the person I'm trying to help can at least feel like I care and not just brush off the situation with a quick uncaring answer like "everything will be alright"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Like the icon that Ariel shows, it is the human condition to offer someone comfort!. I, too, have been through matters for days, weeks and months crying out when will it ever end!. But, life does go on!. The sun continues to rise and you are blessed with a new day to make things better in your life!. If you want everything to be okay, you have to prepare for the worst!. My life did move ahead and did change from what it was!. A new job, new friends and I can afford to take a trip out of town to make myself feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most people say this from the fact that they don't know what to say!. I think their intentions are well meant but many people are uncomfortable when it comes to dealing with sadness, grief and/or loss!. Typically, from my experience the best thing you can do is listen!. Sometimes, even in silence, the fact that you are there for the person, speaks volumes without ever having to say a word!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is the easy way out to give remarks like that:they do not even read the question and they dot not care at all about the person behind the question l:remember my words!?
Two point whores::the worst kind here!.
If some one has a real problem I even contact them by mail if that option is available!.
In this way solved many problems
!.
I agree totally with you!.

Most of the time when you are feeling bad enough that someone else feels the need to comfort you!.!.!. You are beyond the help of words!. Tomorrow it will be better, only if you want it to be!. You first have to help yourself, don't expect someone else to be able to help you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know what you mean; when you're going through something, those words don't really do anything, but if you're watching a friend go through something rough, it's hard to know what to say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes it could be based on their own personal experience; they have gone through the same experience as you and things actually turned out fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because it's not a perfect world and people want everything to be automatic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it annoys me too but I guess they say it for want of something better to say!.!.!.!.they dont understand the depth of suffering someone is going thro!.!.!.they want to offer comfort!.!.but dont know howWww@Answer-Health@Com

they don't know what else to say and they want to comfort u!. Your best bet is talk to someone who has been through real ard times they know what to say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

to try and make u feel better!.!.!.!. their not gonna say "everythings gonna be terrible and worse"Www@Answer-Health@Com

they're just giving false reassurance, to make you feel okay
