Can I sue my uncle for molesting me as a child?!

Question: Can I sue my uncle for molesting me as a child!?
I'm 18 years old, from at least when I can remember I was 3/4 years old when my uncle began molesting me at family holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving until I was about 12!. I didn't understand or come out about this till I was 15 and we did go to the police and found out that he molested my other female cousins of various ages and a family friend's daughter!. He pled guilty for a lighter sentencing and he got 8 years (6 more now)!. Anyway I suffered alot during the two years it took to come out about it and go to court, I developed anorexia for over a year, I lose alot of friends becuase I didn't want to see anyone, my grades which were always A's went down to nothing, I even tried to kill myself once, it was an awful, awful time and I'm mad that I lost out on what should have been fun teen years for me!. I'm mad that every time around the holidays I get miserable and upset becuase it was always fighting over going to see the family and the fear!. I hate it!. Is there anyway I can sue!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go call a law firm and request a consultation with an attorney!. Then tell them your story and ask if you can sue!.

I'm sorry about what happened, I know what you went through!. It's something you never forget or fully recover from!. Good luck to you hun!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you have seven years since he last molested you until you can't sue him anymore!. Go ask a lawyer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hopefully you can castrate the sick F***!. Go all the way with the law suit!. Don't feel bad!. Make him suffer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you may be able to get money for punative damages meaning "pain & suffering"Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not a law person, but i think you should!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can try contacting you Legal Aid Society!. Someone there might be able to answer and give you a referral to an attorney!. Another option is to call a local law school and see if you can also get referrals to attorneys!. Theme, try to get an attorney by recommendation instead of yellow pages!. I'm pretty sure statute of limitations on child abuse does not run out until some years into adulthood, but not enough to say so without saying get an expert to confirm!.

You might want to talk to your cousins and all do this together if your aim is not money!. That would help defray legal costs!. It'd also give you emotional support!.

There are other sides of the equation to consider!. If he has a family, you are taking resources from them!. Pursuing this means that you will continue to actively live it!. Your anger will stay fresh!. Everytime the attorney calls, you'll recall what happened!. When/if you go to court, you'll relive the last time there!. This pursuit will be punishing on you in many ways while you are punishing him!. Be clear on why you want this, and fully think thru what it means!. Sometimes revenge has a bigger price than the satisfaction it may bring!. It doesn't bring back what was lost!. It's usually not what makes the anger stop!.
