Does anyone else's 3 yr old do this or should I be worried?!

Question: Does anyone else's 3 yr old do this or should I be worried!?
My 3 yr old daughter freaks out when she gets anything on her hands!. It started out with sticky fingers from a popsicle but lately she's been washing her hands a lot and she won't eat any finger foods (toast, apple slices) because she doesn't want her hands to be "shiny!." She asks me to "hold it while I take a bite!." When I prepare a bowl of grapes, I have to dry them completely after washing them!. She examines each grape before picking it up and gets upset if one is even damp!. Also, if she gets the tiniest of anything on her clothes, she insists on changing immediately!. The other day she yelled at our poor cat for brushing up against her while she was coloring on the couch and then ran to her room and changed her clothes!. I'm hoping this is just a phase!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Kids go through all sorts of phases but tend to grow out of them, just humour her for a while!. My eldest , who's 16 now, went through a stage of not eating food anyone had touched when he was about that age, didn't last long though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like a sensory disorder like is common with Aspergers Syndrome!. So yeah I said it like the other person said not to!. I have Aspergers Syndrome and yes I had weird phobias like that as a child!. I still do a little because I get very disturbed if I get pancake syrup or honey on my hands!. You need to take her to a neuropsychologist or else you will have a time with her if she is still wanting to constantly change her clothes, etc when she gets to kindergarten!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is not uncommon!. Instead of letting her change her clothes, teach her that it is okay if something gets on them!. Teach her to brush things off instead of taking them off!. Don't hold popsicles for her!. That reinforces the behavior!. Please note, invariably, someone on Yahoo is going to try to convince you that your child has a serious problem!. They like to throw the word Aspergers around!. Please disregard these people!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

my little cousin was the same way, she was around 5 at the time but every kid goes through things at different ages!.!.!. definately don't hold things for her anymore teach her that she has to hold them herself or she doesn't eat!.!.!. she will grow out of it!.!.!. in the meantime I'd say when she is eating tell her shes not allowed to wash her hands until she is done!.!.!. try and set a routine of washing her hands AFTER she is done with something rather than duringWww@Answer-Health@Com

yeah its probably a phase you need to help her out of!.
You need to teach her its alright if something gets on her clothes she'll just brush it off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could be a phase but you want to rule out a true OCD!. Tell your pediatrician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
