How would Anxiety and Depression be treated in Chinese Medicine?!

Question: How would Anxiety and Depression be treated in Chinese Medicine!?
Answers:
Remember there are two schools of Chinee medicine!. One is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the other is 5-element theory!.
The fundamental difference betwee the two is that 5-element theory acknowledges and is able to treat Spirit!. The other (TCM) however is the modernised version and does not treat Spirit!. It will treat depression/anxiety from a biochemical viewpoint!.
From personal experience I would reccomend Zen Shiatsu, reflexology or Tui Na massage!. All have their roots in 5-element theory and depending on the practitioner the results can be amazing!.
You asked about Liver Qi in another question!. Again, according to 5-element theory the Liver houses the Ethereal Spirit or Hun!.
Emotions are a very powerful instigator of imbalances!. Sorry, no time to expand, i really need to go shopping but here is some links to explain should you be interested:http://www!.three-treasures!.com/newslette!.!.!.

Acupuncture and/or herbs!.

Dependant on the TCM diagnosis needles can be used all over the body - front and back!. And with either electro stimulation or with heat from 'moxa' which is burned on the needle to heat it up or held over the acu point!.

Herbs are made up from prescription - but be warned, you must brew them for about 40mins and they can stink out the kitchen!. The taste isn't much better! But they work very effectively in conjuction with acupuncture as they directly target the internal organs affected!.

There is also chinese massage - tuina!. Its not a gentle type of massage, more like a sports massage!. Its very stimulating!.

Check you local PCT - some places offer TCM for anxiety and depressionWww@Answer-Health@Com

It can't be treated well in this way!. I spent some years using alternative remedies such as acupuncture and herbal medicines all to no avail!. Acupuncture is great for pain relief and indeed that is all modern hospital use it for, so go figure!

Therapy is best as it gets to the route of your problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
