Do you suffer w/ depression?!

Question: Do you suffer w/ depression!?
And if so, how do you deal with it!? I am Bipolar but I seem to get more depressed then high!. I do love the high days though =) I am taking Prozac 20mg daily and Amitriptilyne 10mg nightly but I need to speak w/ my doctor as 20mg would suit me better!. The night time one is to help me relax and fall asleep!. I also exercise most evenings for 40 mins or so!. My diet is OK but I think the depression just runs in the family as my Mother and her family have depression -( How do you deal with yours!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello Bell,
As you can see by these answers, you are not alone! I think you are doing really well!
Take each day at a time, eat well, excercise(which you are doing), try going out even though you don't want to move off the sofa!
Depression does run in families, my Mum had it too!.
I am on 60mg of Cymbalta-most recommended!
You need to talk often about this to trusted friends!.
Don't be like me and become a recluse!
I know what I should do, I have given you that advice-but I can't always do it myself!!!
Good luck for the future

Yes, I do!. I'm fighting it with the help of my Celexa, Cogentin, and counseling!.
The counseling is what helps the most!. I'm creating a whole new life for myself!. Now I have a lot to look forward to!.
I have some really bad days and anxiety atacks, but I have a future to work toward instead of staying in my old life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I deal with mine thus; Occasionally but not every day as the joke would wear thin, I face myself in the mirror and say " I am a depressive and I have not had a miserable thought all day"!.
I am 44 now and still hanging in there so it must be doing some good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, I have been depressed since I was 12!. It took me years to find the right medication, then BAM!!! a heart arrhythmia!. Now, I cannot take drugs that work without making my heart go crazy, so I have to live with this demon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your diet might be ok, but try changing it anyway!. Eat more fish, cut out wheat, drink more water etc!. just try it for 2 weeks and see if there's a difference!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I found that a change in diet helped when I combined it with exercise!. It made my anxiety easier to cope with and I wasnt as edgy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes i have quite severe depression, which sometimes i manage to cope with, and sometimes i don't!. when i don't cope, i resort to self harm, which i would NEVER advise anyone to do!. i seriously regret that first cut!.
i'm not on any medication, so i try to cope by keeping my mind busy to distract from my depressive thoughts - i spend as much time as possible with friends, i go out for walks (the fresh air and exercise makes you feel better), i listen to music, i cuddle my guinea pig (pets REALLY help - unconditional love), i go on Y/A and try to help others - just try to distract yourself!.
helping others can really make you feel good - you could volunteer to help in charity events, or perhaps help an elderly relative (e!.g help them with gardening or something!.)
you're doing the right thing by doing exercise, as it releases endorphins which make you feel good!. it is good to have a good diet, but don't forget to treat yourself every now and then - chocolate is good when you're down!. :)
it may also make you feel better if you do relaxing things such as having a nice hot bath with lots of bubbles or aromatherapy oils, having a massage, doing meditation, relaxing to a relaxation CD (e!.g one that plays nature sounds such as the sound of the sea), reading a book!.
professional help also helps you to cope, i don't know what i'd do without my sessions!.

hope this has helped a bit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have depression that has been deemed "untreatble" by my psychiatrist!. Every med I've tried has either led to bad side effects or simply hasn't helped!.

The one thing that I've learned to do that has literally saved my life is open up to people!. Like most depressed individuals, I tend to withdraw and isolate myself when I'm feeling down!. However, I've started to tell people about how I feel and what's going on!. I go out with friends and family, even though I don't want to, and my lows don't last as long!.

If I could offer you any advice, it would be this: Don't cut people off and shut them out when you're feeling down!. Do things even though you're not really interested in doing them!. Use positive affirmations!. ( http://www!.vitalaffirmations!.com/ )
Use positive thinking (even though you kind of feel like you're lying to yourself)!. Believe tomorrow will be brighter than today!.!.!. and if you can do this, it will be!.

I know how hard it is but it looks like you're taking the right steps!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

well I have an anxiety disorder but it can have depressive traits as I struggle to cope and panic about everything and it gets me down so I cry and feel useless etc! Unfortunately there is not much you can do except take your meds, try different ones till you find the right one for you, and just take each day as it comes, you get good days and bad days, on the bad days you just need to hope the next one is better, its difficult on loved ones too as my moods are all over the place, but you just gotta talk to people about how you feel get on with your life as best as you can and take time out when you need to! I work full time and am a relatively new mother, but I get by :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
