Currently off work with depression.Tesco employee......?!

Question: Currently off work with depression!.Tesco employee!.!.!.!.!.!.!?
Basically I have been working for Tesco for almost 2 years (in September) and I am currently off sick from work, with depression, I am pregnant with my third (which I am very grateful for) my depression is not post natal or to do with the pregnancy, I have suffered from depression since the age of 10, (I am now 19) I am basically wondering how long do Work pay you sick for!? My baby is due early November, so I will be going on maternity leave obviously before that, my husband is still working, but not enough to keep us secure enough, if I dont get any money

How long do work pay you for!?
Does Tax credit give you more tax credits (child tax credit) as my money will obviously be much less!.
How will work be with me about this!?
Will I have to go in and speak to work!?
They are not the most supportive-my work

Sorry I am just very nervous, husband is not the most supportive about this, he does not understand depression or OCD, it is really bad at the moment, and impossible for me to work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most big companies will have a policy with regards to sick leave!. This will apply regardless of what your ailment is, whether it be depression or cancer or anything!.

If you look at your employment contact and any additional pages, it should tell you about their sick leave policy, how much they will pay you for and how long they will pay you for!. Sometimes the details will vary depending on how long you have been employed for the company, therefore it is important to establish this and their policy first!. If you haven't got a copy, you can get a further copy from the HR dept by telephoning and asking!. Sometimes they also put policy copies (but not your contract) on their own staff intranet which can accessed via computer!.

They should be ok about it!. Of course you are nervous, that is to be expected!. Generally speaking some employers will pay full-pay for sick leave for a set number of weeks, and then this will drop to half-pay for a further set amount of time!. After that they write to you to say the money will be stopping and they will be terminating your contract unless you return to work!. It is very rare for an employer to pay sick pay for more than six months, but some companies pay for a shorter time than this!.

Sorry I can't advise re tax credit!.

Sorry to hear that husband and work are not supportive!. That is very hard indeed!. You might find that your GP can refer you to a counsellor at the GP practice to talk to about the depression!. I have found this personally very helpful and the appts were local!. Also when I plucked up the courage to tell my employer about the counselling they were encouraged that I was trying to get help and support for the problem and this worked in my favour because I could show I was getting help!.

First thing tomorrow ring up your branch and speak to personnel and find out your rights much better than speculating and if you really are unwell it will clarify things for you!. Next speak to Inland Revenue about your tax credits and explain the situation as it can take them ages to sort out amendments so the sooner you can speak to them the better!.
Try and speak to your Health Visitor or confide in a friend the old saying a trouble shared is a trouble halved is true!. Take Care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm a little confused!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. you're 19, expecting your 3rd baby!? Do you not think that being so extremely busy with 3 small children will make your depression worse!? Not to mention the lack of income!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

You may or may not have had a rough childhood, if you say you've had depression since being 10 years old, but shouldn't your priority be to get better, make some cut-backs financially, (sell our computer!?) and be a good mum, instead of wondering what other hand-outs you can claim!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
