Must I tell my psychiatrist that I've "slipped" with my drinking?!

Question: Must I tell my psychiatrist that I've "slipped" with my drinking!?
In the past few months, I've been under tremendous stress, and have screwed up and started drinking too much (drinking has been a problem in the past)!. I am working on cutting back, and I believe it was a a reaction to a lot of things happening around me!.
I'm afraid if I tell him, he'll screw with my medication or not renew it at all!.
But I also know I should probably be honest!. I have an appointment this afternoon and I'm very nervous about this!.
Please offer advice!.!.!.
ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

You should be honest!. A psychiatrist is someone who is a professional and should also be someone you trust!. I would tell him/her everything including that you were debating on talking about your slipping up because you are afraid the meds will change!. Be honest so you can be really helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think that it is VERY important to be honest when you;re trying to get help!. If you're a recovering alcoholic or have had problems with alcohol in the past, chances are you won't be able to cut back on your own (unless you're very strong willed)!. I'd be up front with them, explain how nervous you were about admitting it, but any psychiatrist worth their money would appreciate how honest you were!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your doctor is there to help you learn new, better ways to cope with things!. If you've slipped, and by your own admission it was a coping mechanism, then you need to let him/her know!. Otherwise he/she won't be able to help you cope without crawling into the bottle!.

OK, you made a mistake, we all do!. However you need to gain the courage to admit you made a mistake and deal with it, not hide it and suffer in silence!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well he's a psychiatrist, he'll do whatever is best for you!. Just because you've "slipped" doesn't mean he'll punish you or anything!. His job is to make your life better, so no matter what he does, it'll be for the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you must be honest, and do explain all the details about you're being under a lot of stress lately!. After all he's human like you and me, and all of us here :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
