I'm so tired all the time, how can I stop the anxiety ?!

Question: I'm so tired all the time, how can I stop the anxiety !?
Hi there,
I'm constantly anxious about everything!.!.!.my psycologist thinks I have an anxiety/panic disorder and he also thinks I have Bipolar Disorder!.!.!.

While I was doing exams the anxiety was so bad that I really tired myself out and ended up sleeping in the middle of the floor in school!.!.!.

Now exams are over, and I have nothing to do for 2 months!. I can't get a job because of the anxiety so I'm just sitting around at home sleeping!. I go to bed at 8pm, wake up at 8am, and then a couple of hours later (around 10!.30) I'll have a nap for two hours!. Being awake is just so much effort because I'm panicking about every little thing!. Sometimes I'm only awake for about 3 hours in the day!.

My psycologist says it's the medication he's put me on (zyprexa) and said DON'T stop taking it, just live with being tired!.

It's not much of a life though, is it!?
What can I do to feel less tired!? Do not feel like seeing friends, going shopping, for a walk!.!.!.

Thanks for reading!.

Actually I have had a similar problem, when I was doing my last year of school last year the leaving certificate I got SO stressed out I developed chronic reflux and I also had a few panick attacks!. By the end of it I just felt tired all the time and wanted to sleep!. But to me it's simply that you've stopped wanting to confront life, it's become so unbearable to you that you escape it by sleeping!. This is not good!. You must address what is bothering you and what you are anxious about! I really feel for you, what you're going through sounds terrible and I've sort of experienced it for myself!. I've always felt that medication merely pauses your problems it doesn't fix them!. I'd be interested to know what your anxious or fearful of!?!?!?!? If you get stressed out about assessments and exams then maybe you should rethink what you're doing with your life and find something that makes you happy and doesn't make you ill!. If you've got two months off now would be a great time to do some serious soul searching!. Try and find the root of what is making you so anxious which is then fueling your desire to escape life through sleeping!. Goodluck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Is there any alternative meds that he could have offered you that you can take!? If not I'd get a second opinion from another doctor about your problem!. Sorry couldn't help you more
Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, if your doctor knows the medicine is having that effect on you, I would hope he would adjust the dose!. Maybe you are taking too much or too little!? I think one good thing you can do is talk to people about this!. Tell your psychologist that you feel tired all the time!. Tell your parents or family members!. Ask someone to call your general practitioner!. Maybe there is something else going on, like some kind of imbalance!. I think you should keep asking for help until you get it! Summer is supposed to be fun! More importantly, you deserve a better life!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When I was in graduate school, I learned that Zyprexa generally makes people extremely tired!. How long have you been on this medication!? If you've been on it for more than two or three weeks, chances are that the side-effect may not go away with time!. If this is the case, I'd talk to your psychiatrist about the possibility of switching medications to something that won't make you so sleepy all the time!.

If you haven't been on the medication long, you might want to try to stay on it for a little longer (depending on whether you can tolerate the sleepiness any longer)!.

Regardless, I think you should talk to your psychiatrist about your side-effects!. You're right - it's not worth it to have a medication to make you so sleepy all the time that you feel depressed and unmotivated to do everyday activities!. There are several other anti-anxiety medications that may be more effective in treating your anxiety without making you as tired!.

Finding the right medication is often a trial-and-error process, and while it is frustrating, I assure you, there is something out there to help relieve your symptoms!

You might also want to try to get some cognitive-behavioral counseling (CBT) in order to find ways to cope with your anxiety through behavior and thought modification!.

I talk about anxiety a lot in my blog, if you are interested in reading more, you can visit me at: http://anxiety!.today!.com!. I certainly hope my answer helps you!. I wish you the very best!Www@Answer-Health@Com
