Question: What will happen if I tell the counselors at college that I self-injure!?
I'm afraid that they'll kick me out or make me go to a psychiatrist/psychologist that I can't afford!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They definitely will NOT kick you out!.

First & foremost they will want to determine why you self injure: are you passivley suicidal!? If so, yes, you would require a higher level of care!. BUT they would never require you to do something you can't afford!. There are lots of psychiatrists that work on a sliding scale or charity care!.

If you self injure for other reasons, they more than likely will be able to keep working with you in the setting you are in, to help you address those issues with the goal of being able to stop self injuring!.

Best of luck!.!.!.!. know that this is a very common issue lots of people your age deal with, and there is nothing to be afraid of in terms of telling your college counselor!. They are there to help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The college cannot kick you out for having a mental disorder like yours!. In fact they would probably be too afraid to do it becaue you might kill yourself!.

If you choose to talk to the counselors at your school, many times they will set up basic therapy sessions for you on campus and free of charge!. In the event they do recommend you see a specialist, they cannot make you go!.

This is important, so remember it:

A person of sound mind cannot be forced to go to a therapy session, cannot be committed except in some cases by a judge, and is under no obligation to seek treatment for their condition!.

If your college did ever try to kick you out, they would end up paying for the next school that did the honorable and right thing by taking you in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ooh this is hard!.
i don,t think they will kick you out!.
this will look really bad for their demographics!.
it will show that they are not willing to resolve issues and that they just send the person away!.
if they do recommend that you speak with a psychologist, they would almost definitely offer to finance it-especially if its serious
also if you inform your counselor that you would appreciate this to remain private before spilling the beans, than there is nothing they can do that would not be in breach of teacher-student confidentiality!.
i do hope you get better though!.
good luck:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

counselors even at colleges are bound by confidentiality and no discrimination!. only if you make a threat against yourself or another person does that change!.

yes many will say you need to be evaluated by a psychiatrist, they do this because of liability reasons and pushing meds are an easy solution, but they can't force you to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
