What's wrong with me? i'm not sure whether or not i'm actually depre!


Question: What's wrong with me!? i'm not sure whether or not i'm actually depressed!.!?
i'm a 15 year old girl!. I'm really confused about my current state of mind!. i've been kind of sad all my life!. i harm myself sometimes, whether its with pins or my fingernails or whatever, and some days i think of nothing but dying!. lately i've been sleeping a lot more than usual, like yesterday i went to bed at 5:00pm when usually i go to bed at about 10:00, because i had no motivation to do anything else!. i'm always tired and a little moody to others, even when i've had a either a normal amount of sleep or a lot of sleep!. also, i don't eat very much because i just can't bring myself to do it, not because i want to lose weight, but i really don't know why!. i know these are all signs of depression, but I don't know if I really am depressed because sometimes i do feel happy (but when I am happy i also feel a bit sad if that makes any sense)!. can you tell me what's going on here!? my mom noticed there was something wrong with me but kind of ignores it!. thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds familiar!. =/ A lot like me when i started out before I got worse!.

Your best bet is to try and convince your mom to set you up with a therapist appointment!. He or she can direct you to a psychiatrist who can make the diagnosis as well as help you talk through some of the things you are feeling!.

You *do* sound like you have a bit of the clinical depression!.!.!. or moreso, Dysthymic Depression (I have that too!.!.!. )!. It's the more chronic version of Major Depressive Disorder (mine as well)!.

Honestly, even if it's not, a therapist will probably make you feel better!. Sometimes it helps just to have someone to talk to!. A psychiatrist can only diagnose you and potentially give you drugs, but a therapist really can help at times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say see a doctor my thought is you probably are, just because you may suffer from depreesion doesn't mean your never happy, I used to be the same way!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have the classic symptoms of "depression", but that's sort of a garbage can label!.

No matter what you call it, you need to get a complete check-up by a doctor!. That includes various blood tests!. You need to tell your doctor exactly what you said to us on yahoo answers!.

I suspect you might need counselling by a psychologist!. Your doctor can refer you to one!.

Keep in mind: the feelings you have described are real and they are valid!. And they are temporary!. (They ain't gonna last forever!!)

sweetie, it sounds as if you are going through depression, but what you have to try and find out is why!.!.!.!.have you maybe lost someone!? i know when i lost my mommy, and maybe i would watch a movie and laugh, i would actually feel guilty about laughing because i shouldnt have been laughing because my heart was broken!.!.!.sounds a little like you!.!.!.!.!.try and dig deep to find the root cause of your unhappiness, and once you have found that, that will be the first step towards recovery!.!. just dont give up!.!.!. Now depression is very hard to deal with!. You may feel like hurting yourself or whatnot, but you MUST NOT DO IT! now let me explain!. Depression can come from different things (ex!. death, friendship problems, the people you hang around, troubles at home, or troubles with yourself, or your fluids in your brain might be unbalanced!.) So the fastest way to help yourself is to go to a doctor and tell him what you feel and ask him to prescribe you medication!. Now you might feel embarrased that you need anti-depressents-- but dont be! Many people take them!. You dont even have to tell anyone!. And if you need someone to talk to about something thats bugging you, you can go see a therapist!. Its a hard thing to do, but once you do it you wont regret it!!!!
