Yes it is a very good way to calm your mind!.
There are a lot of different methods of meditation some are simple and some need a little more effort!.
The easiest is to sit up strait in a quit comfortable place and just close your eye and take in a long slow breath through your nose while counting in your head 1,2,3,4!. hold it while counting 1,2,3,4!. and exhale slowly out your mouth while counting 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8!. then repeat for as long as you can keep doing it!.

It may sound silly but the counting is part of the clearing your mind of things that just keep going over and over in your head!. This is the basic idea as I said there are many different ways I like( Walking Meditation by Nguyen Anh-Huong & Thich Nhat Hanh)It is a nice little book that come with a CD & a DVD you can get it on Amozon!.com or at any of the large book stores!.
