Answers:
Effexor is a SSRI antidepressant!. It has no effect on anxiety!. The detailed symptoms you gave are far more indicative of an anxiety problem rather than depression!.

You don't seem to be bipolar, you don't seem to have depression, you seem to have severe anxiety!. Severe anxiety is treated with benzodiazepan meds such as Valium or Xanax!. Apparently your physician was absent the day they taught that in pharmacology!.

Note - Go ahead and take the med as prescribed!. I highly doubt it will help, but it's worth a try!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you have a history of bi polar in your family !?

Then you my be bi polar !. It is genetic !.

Do you become manic from taking ssri drugs!?

Sounds like you are manic !.

See a mental health doctor !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Was this a psychiatrist or a family practice physician!? I'm not a doctor, but if you walk away from the office worried about it not helping you then the facts of the drug probably wasn't explained well enough!. If you are really concerned get a second opinion preferably from a psychiatrist as they have experience with mental issues!. Don't listen to anyone on here telling you what you may have or may not!. Alot of people like to play doctor!. Also the effectiveness of drugs vary between people it may help you and it may not!. For right now I would take it as prescribed if you're not feeling better then go back for another visit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
