I have been on the same dosage you are on now!. I've also gotten drunk while taking it!. Nothing bad every happened to me!. You're on a pretty low dosage, and as long as you don't mix the alcohol with something else like some sleeping pills or pain killers, you should be OK!. So my advice would be to take it slow and if you start to feel wrong at all, STOP drinking and don't go through with your plan!. Have someone with you in case you need help!. But really, alcohol and Lamictal don't interact in a fatal way!. Alcohol is supposed to interfere with the absorption and elimination of the Lamictal from what I've read, and that's why doctors recommend not drinking while on it!. It will also make you sleepy, and maybe get you drunk faster so DO NOT DRIVE!. So the bigger side effect you might worry about is that your mood might be off the next day!. I HAVE had this happen slightly, but not significantly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've been on Lamictal 200mg 2x day for about 3 1/2 years!. I am not really a drinker but about 4 to 5 times a year I do drink socially!. I have never experienced any side effects from drinking while taking the Lamictal!. In fact I got really, really drunk during my bachelorette party a couple of years ago and still didn't have any side effects!. I think you'll be fine, but if you have any questions contact your pharmacy, the pharmacist should be able to tell you over the phone what the interactions are between Lamictal and alcohol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am not on Lamictal but other Bipolar meds!. My doctor said Do Not drink while taking the medication!. That was 10 years ago and I have not had a drink since!.

These are VERY powerful medications and I would be very careful!.

Honestly, I would call your doctor and ask!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You really need to stop mixing alcohol with your meds! That is very unhealthy!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i just want to first ~ that you should not drink while taking any type of bipolar medications!. with that said!. i have been on bipolar meds for 12 years!. i am on Lamictal 200mg!. i have been on Lamictal for almost 2 years!. i have talked with my pdoc about drinking while on all my medications!. i like to have a spicy bloody mary ever now and then!. maybe 1 a month!. she advised me the warnings of drinking too much at one time!. she also said that as long as i take all my meds early that morning that she didn't see a problem!. i take seroquel at night!. i have been on it for almost 5 years!. she told me to skip the dose the night i have my drink!. she said i have it (seroquel) at a therapeutic level already in my system that missing one dose wouldn't bring the level down!. i really think you should contact your doctor before drinking any alcohol!.

i know a lot of people are going to thumbs down this answer because they will think my pdoc is wrong!. that's fine, but i trust her and have been with her for over 6 years!. she has never put me in harms way!. i just wanted to share with you what my pdoc advised me of!.

please call your doctor before drinking!. be safe!

hugs,
LesliWww@Answer-Health@Com
