Hi!.!.!. I can answer this question from personal experience!. I was referred to a psychologist because of my problems with self harm so my parents already knew!. But I had gone a few months without a single scratch, until I relapsed!. I showed my psych the cuts and she said she was going to tell my parents!. I begged her not to tell and she decided to trust me and believe me when I said never again!. But I suppose your case is different since your therapist doesn't know about your self harming!. It really all depends on how old you are and what state of mind your in!. I know I never ever wanted my parents to find out my secret but it's so hard to cope with that on your own and I felt really guilty because of all the lies!. I think it's always important to remember that the truth has a habbit of showing it's face at the most random times!. Sure it's hard to admit that you self harm, telling my parents was possibly the worst day of my life but in the long run it had to be done!. If you tell someone then that's you on the road to recovery!. It's only when your completely honest that people can actually help you!. I wish you the best of luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

Technically, she is what is called a "mandated reporter" which requires her to inform the proper people if you are in danger of harming yourself or someone else!. However, many of these people choose to look the other way!. Are you afraid that your parents won't take you seriously, be angy with you or something like that!? Cutting is a sign of a serious personality disorder, called "Borderline Personality Disorder"!. It is not going to go away, I 100% guarantee it!. Eventually, you will need to believe that, denial or no denial!. Tell somebody!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if she felt that there's a need to tell your parents i think she'll tell them!.i think it's better for your parents to know about it because they'll be really worried if something happens to you!.besides if they know they'll help you as well!.'Www@Answer-Health@Com
