Why do people who cut themselves do it on their arms where people can see?!

Question: Why do people who cut themselves do it on their arms where people can see!?
Answers:
I used to cut until recently (I stopped about a year ago), and I started off cutting in places people wouldn't see, but by the end even though I didn't realise it at the time I was cutting on my arms because I wanted someone to notice!. Not to get attention, but more as a cry for help!. I just didn't know how else to tell someone!.

Some people do it for attention, but these people usually intentionally make the cuts obvious to everyone!.

For other people maybe it's just a place that easily accessed and they don't think at the time about people seeing it!. Or sometimes they want to be able to cut their veins to bleed more!.!.!.Many of them try to cover it up with long-sleeved jumpers, even in summer!. So they avoid people seeing it!.!.!.

I hope this helped!.

Cutting on the wrists is cutting over and potentially through major veins and tendons!. People who self harm are, a lot of the time, looking to cause themselves serious damage or commit suicide and this is why cutting on the wrists is often the most common form!. What people don't realise is that self harming is a cry out for help, a sign of distress!. People who are trying to commit suicide through self harm may try different things to alert people of what's happening!. The majority of suicidal people don't want to die, they just don't want to live life the way they are!.

Therefore, people who self harm often want someone to realise what they're feeling so that they can get help before it's too late!. It's not attention seeking - it's a sign that they are in need of help!. That's why it's important to watch out for someone who is self harming, it's not always as simple as it might look!. Some people who self harm cut on their legs, stomach or chest - this usually is for the physical and psychological reasons for the release of stress rather than a desperate call out for help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well a lot of people are saying that people who cut themselves only do it for attention, and in some cases I think that's probably true, but I've been struggling with self harm for the past 4 years and I've only ever cut my thighs where no-one will ever see!. The only way anyone would ever know that I self harm would be if I told them, which I don't!. And as for the people saying that they cut their wrists because it's easier to cut the veins/arteries, well sorry but I think that's bollocks - very rarely do people cut deep enough on their wrists to cut through major blood vessels, and if they do it's because they're trying to kill themselves, not because they just want to self harm!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

For two reasons!. The frist because they are depressed and contemplating suicide and know that if they cut their wrists in the right place they can cut some very important veins!. Or because they are despretly seeking attention and really need someones help!. I cant really give you any advice about how to help someone without knowing anything about them!. But ifyou know someone who is cutting themselves it is really important that you either show them that you are there for them or let someone else (someone who can help) knowWww@Answer-Health@Com

the cutters do this as a way of showing others a visible way of showing thier pain!.

mental health had no visible signs of pain, like the way a broken leg or other painful sign that something is wrong!.

so the cutters cut them selves to give a visible sign of thier inner pain that you cant see!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well the only reason these people do these things is to get attention and they think well if I cut my wrist people will be able to see it and then theyll ask what happened and that is how they get their attention but what they dont know is that they are making themselves look really bad cutting yourself gets you attention alright but in a really bad way and is not a way to solve problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the thing is, alot of them dont think that they need anyone to no, but alot of it!., is a cry for help, people see them and try to help them, if they wanted to kill em self, or hurt them selfs bad they would do it, right and go down the tracksWww@Answer-Health@Com

some do it on their wrists caz they r looking for help and so they do it in a visible location to get someone to pay attention they need to them!.
its a subconscious thing most times, they need help, feel like noone will listen or cares so they hurt themselves in a place where people can see!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People don't just cut on their arms, they can cut other places as well like their thighs for example!.
Some people cut themselves for attention and want people to see!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

they cut it in their wrist n0t because thats the obvious part of their body!.!.

it is because of the veins in their wrist!.!. (thats what they want to cut) !.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I originally thought of doing it for attention!.!.!.but then I just covered it up!. I think it doesn't hurt as much if you cut on the forearm!.!.!.some places are more sensitive than others!.!.!.that's just my opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not all or most cutters do it where others can see it unless its for attention or they need others to see their pain!.!.!. for most, it's highly secretive and well hidden!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

So they can let people see that they are in pain!. It is a cry for help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

coz the veins are easier to get to on your arm/wristWww@Answer-Health@Com

Because they don't intend on dying!. Its a cry out for help!. If they wanted to really die, they'd do it properly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not everyone does it for attention!!!I cut on my arms because it feels the best there and legs dont bleed as much!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
