I work on a psychiatric unit at a hospital!. The first thing that comes to my mind when I read 'he is on meds!. he forgets them sometimes' is that a person with Bipolar, or any disorder, needs to consistently take their medication!. Secondly, if a person is in the midst of a manic state it is very difficult to do anything to assist; usually a person in a manic state is hospitalized because they don't sleep for days and they may get themselves in trouble because they caused some type of a scene in the community!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he has short manic episodes, like short periods of time when he feels invincible just nod your head and say ok, but in a non committal way!. I have angry manic episodes but I have to be triggered, although it isn't hard to trigger me when I am manic I calm down faster if people don't argue, that only triggers me further!. If this doesn't work try slapping him, someone did that to me once and it knocked some sense into meWww@Answer-Health@Com

If he's really bad, I suggest reminding him to take his meds!. Don't baby him!. It makes things worse!. You can't really reason with someone who's bi-polar!. I lived with a guy who was that way!. And when all he wanted to do was freak out, I didn't give him all kinds of attention!.!.!.I just treated him like the child he was acting like!. It made him feel a little better knowing that I had everything under control!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get him back on his meds first!. How manic is he!? If he thinks he has superpowers or is a danger to himself or others, then he needs to see a doctor before something serious happens, but try to get him to take his meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Make sure he is on his meds!.
Watch him so he doesn't do anything dangerous!.
Be supportive of him!.
Stay out of the way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just keep calm and keep out of his way\!. Why not leave the meds in a place he cant forget them, like near the fridgeWww@Answer-Health@Com
