Well, hopefully during your hospitalization you were either put on medications to help with your Depression, or your medications were changed!. Usually it takes up to four weeks for anti-depressants to start working fully!.

It's also important that you're talking to a mental health professional (ie: therapy)!. Although you may not feel as bad as you did, you still need support during this difficult time!.

Just remember: major depressive disorder affects approximately 14!.8 million American adults, or about 6!.7 percent of the U!.S!. population age 18 and older in a given year!. Up to 80% of those treated for depression show an improvement in their symptoms generally within four to six weeks of beginning medication, psychotherapy, attending support groups or a combination of these treatments!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there,
I'm assuming that you were prescribed antidepressants!. If so, remember that these take weeks to begin to take effect!. In some cases, you may experience feeling really good at first, then go into a major slump, before the medication fully begins working (hence the black box warning labels on most antidepressants)!. During this time, it is critical that you take your medication as prescribed and don't skip out on your meds!. If you find you feel really good and then feel really bad, suicidal even, please please please contact your local crisis intervention!. You are too important to disappear completely :)
Always remember, this too shall pass!. And as with dependency issues, try your hardest to take one day at a time!. If you can get through this moment, then the next ten minutes, the next hour, through this evening, night and to the next morning!.!.!.!. you've already made a world of progress!. Each day, every day, one at a time!. There are excellent resources for people with depression, from crisis intervention (as I already mentioned) to counseling hotlines and group therapy!. Never feel ashamed to call or ask someone for help!. You matter to this world!. Good luck on your road to happiness!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it is important to talk about what is bothering you!. I highly recommend counselors over psychologists!. Psychologists can put you on medicine!. You take the medicine and you don't care about the problem anymore, but the problem still exists and may bother you again someday!. Talk to a counselor!. They are trained to help you get a different perspective on the things that are bothering you!.

Also, another good way to feel better is to eat healthy and exercise right!. I would recommend that you buy the book, "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips!. This is not a diet, it is a way of life!. You have to change your life habits to make it work!. The first two weeks are the toughest, but after that, it gets a lot better! :)

He gives you charts to help you plan your meals and exercises!. You eat 6 times a day, and he gives you examples of what you can eat at each meal!. The best part is, you get ONE FREE DAY every week!. You can eat anything you want to and you don't have to exercise if you don't want to!.

You exercise 6 days a week!. Three days you do aerobic-type exercises, such as jogging or running, or aerobics, or tennis, !.!.!. as long as you exercise your heart at least 20 minutes per day!. He gives you a chart for this type of exercising!. It is very useful!. On the other 3 days, you do weight-lifting, or resistance-type exercises!. He gives you a list and descriptions of the different types of exercises you can do!. Not all of them involve lifting weights!. You do not have to do all the exercises!. He gives you a chart and you put in the different types of exercises you want to do (each affecting a different area of the body!.)

I recommend this!. Talk out your problems and try to resolve them!. Eat healthy and exercise healthy!. You will feel a lot better!. Make sure you check with your doctor to make sure this exercise routine and diet is good for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I recommend reading the book "Depression Is A Choice" by A!.B!. Curtiss, as well as her follow-up book "Brainswitching"!. These books have totally changed the way I think about depression!. You can probably find them at the local library!. If not, they are available at retailers like Barnes and Noble and Amazon!.com!. I highly recommend them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
