I think my brother is cutting?!

Question: I think my brother is cutting!?
I think my younger bro (aged 14) is cutting!. He has these scars on his arms but I have not confronted him about it!. He is now wearing long sleeve shirts even in summer to disguise it!. The only reason I saw was because I accidental walked in on him while he was naked getting changed after a shower!.

I am worried that he is suffering!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cutting IS a big deal!. You should talk to him!. Being an older sibling, you can help a lot more than you think you could!. Talk to him!. Don't be mean about it, just try to get him to open up to you!. If he's cutting, he's going to need some one to listen to him, and be a good friend to him!. What better person to do that than family!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

To be honest (being a cutter myslef and also 14) I would probs listen more to an older sibling!. Just speak to him when hes on his own, don't ask him straight up but just ask how hes doing and the general and then if you think the time is right ask him but say that your not going to get upset or tell anyone untill he is ready!. That was one of my biggest worries was that my sister or parents would be angry or upset!. If he does tell you about it ask him what he wants to do about it make him feel in control (it worked with me)
Hope this helped

You should really try talking to him!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.this is really important, let him know that he can trust you and don't attack him try to remain calm!
If he opens up to you, try and get him to agree to talk to your parents, he's definitely going to need more help then you just talking to him!
If he doesn't open up to you, you should still talk to your parents I know that will be hard, but they need to know!!!

~Good luck and I hope everything works out!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to cut!. I'm thinking he's really angry at himself, depressed about his life!. Cutting is a form of release for built up feelings and its a form of self punishment!. Maybe go out and do something he likes, make sure hes happy!.!.!. then gently talk to him!. Tell him your worried, let him know you care about him!. Then, I would tell your parents!? There is counselling, he may benefit from that!. He may have depression or a condition that needs meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dont listen to the people that tell you that its not a big deal!.Cutting is a big deal!.!.its either a cry for help or a way to release pain!.(ironic i know)!. Tell your mom and dad or counselor before it gets worse! Trust me on this!.!.!.please!. You have to tell someone!. He needs help!. Obviously somethings not going right in his brain!. So he might need some meds or something!. he might get mad at you now for telling but later on in life he will thank you!!. i promise! i used to be a cutter when i was 13-17 and now im glad that i got help!!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
